MID·OHIO SPORTS CAR COURSE D~D.~.[()J~. LEXINGTON, OHIO Central Illinois MC Hlllclimb: "Awesome Austin" Creek has an awesome crash at the hlllclimb in Neoga, illinois. Los Angeles County Raceway Hall Hauls at CRC Night MX By GREG ROBERTSON PAlJoIDALE, CA, JUNE 9 Joshua Hall turned a couple of good starts into a 1-1 sweep of the 250cc Beginner class during the Factory Effects-sponsored round of California Racing Club's Saturday night motocross at Los Angeles County Raceway. First-moto action saw Hall winning the drag race to the first tum to lead Randy Gorman, Bobby Jones, Richard Melton and the rest of the field. Hall made short work of the first moto by pulling out a five-second lead early in the race and maintaining that cushion for the duration. Gorman was all by himself at the checkers for a second-place ride, over Jones and Ryan Branch. Jones absconded with the second-moto holeshot, only to be dropped to third place by Hall and Gorman on the opening lap. Gorman was all over Hall, shoWing him his front fender on numerous occasions. Hall fended off the repeated challenges to eventually take the hard-fought win over Gorman. Jones was once again third, with Melton (5-4) and Branch (4-5) rounding out the top five finishers. YZ250F·mounted Chad Abbott was quickest out of the gate in the first 125cc Beginner moto and was soon being pressured by Greg Owen. Owen dogged Abbott throughout the race but couldn't quite find a way around and would have to settle for runner-up honors. Ariel Greeg finished third, ahead of a great battle over fourth between Jesse Berg and Mike Garcia. in which Berg would prevail. Abbott proved his first-moto holeshot was no fluke as he duplicated the feat in round two to lead Owen, Garcia and Greer. Within a lap, Garcia was up into second place and challenging Abbott for the top spot. Owen latched on to Garcia's back fender. with Greer shad· owing the both of them, making for a fourrider battle over the lead. Garcia stuck with Abbott for a couple of circuits of the J.B. Memorial track before Abbott upped the pace slightly to pull away for the victory. Garcia's second-place finish eamed him the third-place trophy, behind the 2-3 rides of Owen. Results P/W YAM.
