Tate's Ranch: Bryan Miller rode to a runner-up finish In the Pro class, behind winner Haydn Franklin, at round seven of TCCRA's 30th-anniversary season In Crafton, Texas. It didn't matter if he looked back or not; there wasn't anyone close enough to see. Smith/ Bridgestone/Answer-backed 1g-yearold Bryan Miller took second place but finished more than two minutes behind Franklin. Series leader Clay Hoenshell - who is sponsored by Granbury Kawasaki, Team Green, \MS, Renthal and Scott - had a tough race. He had to battle back from nearly last to capture third place. .., must have been sleeping at the line," Hoenshell admitted, "and when I woke up, I was having to slow up to get in line at the woods· not the start I wanted in the dust. Visibility was low at the back of the pack, and in trying to work my way back to the front, I overshot ~ few turns. On one tum, I ran off the track, hit a tree and lay on the ground while a couple A riders passed me. It was a frustrating day, all in all, but I did climb back up to third." With seven races left in the season, several classes are in tight battles for state championships. In the Semi-Pro class, Bert Reynolds is just 60 points behind leader Sean Reddish. The Over 40 Experts and Intermediates are just as tight, with 100 points or less separating the top four riders in each class. A similar situation exists In not only the Open Expert class but in the Intermedjate and Amateur classes as well. Meanwhile, the 125cc Amateur class has Bret Massey and Tyler Schexnailder in a tie for the iead, with James Voisard 37 points behind, and Adam Possin in fourth place just 96 points back. The 250cc Amateur class shows Shannon Faulk in fourth place and 83 points behind leader Jeff Van Matre. Aaron Lambert is in third, being only 54 points away, and CW. Caldwell is right on Van Matre's tail, just a mere seven points back. However, the biggest battles taking place are in the 125/200cc Intermediates and the Mini Expert classes. Leading the 125/200cc Intermediate class, Jesse Pembroke is only 67 points in front of Collin Gossett, in fifth place.
