Oliver, but he had to worry about Desane, who was moving up fast. At the halfway mark, Oliver disappeared in the back section. At the same time, Desane passed Pixley for the lead. Desane pulled out a few bike lengths and rode to the win. Pixley was relieved that Oliver dropped out, and he took second and the overall. Moving up to third was Joe Parsons, who held back Brown, in fourth. Capone held on to fifth, ahead of Dalton Guttridge. Another exciting 85cc race featured the 7- to ll-year-olds' class. Stephen Upper led the pack in the first moto. Chase Couture was a close second, followed by Derek Hall, Jesse Freeman and Nicholas Skalecki. The two leaders pulled away and kept it a close race. Couture finally got the upper hand to take the moto win over Upper. Hall and Freeman kept third and fourth, as Cody Cleveland moved into fifth. Couture got the holeshot in the second moto and cruised to the win. The excitement was all behind him: Upper ran second, with Nicholas Taylor, Freeman and Hall close behind. Upper messed up, dropping to the fifth, ahead of Robby Renner. Freeman and Hall moved to second and third, and Taylor was in fourth. Then it was Freeman's turn to mess up, as he spun out. Hall moved to second, followed by Taylor, Upper and Renner. Upper was ready to make a few passes to try to catch Couture. Upper moved to third and was looking to pass Hall, only to have a mishap in the back section, which caused a DNF. Couture cruised to the win, ahead of Hall, Taylor, Cleveland and Freeman. Steve Stojack dominated the Over 30 and 35 classes, winning all four motos. Stojack fought off Eric Braun in the first Over 30 moto and then passed Braun in the second moto for the win. Stojack fought off attempts from rival Tony Gallardy in both Over 35 motos. Brothers Matt and Kyle Goerke each came away with two class wins. Matt won the 85cc (14-15) and Supermini classes with double-moto wins in each. The younger Kyle won the 65cc (7-9) event with two moto wins, but could only manage a 3-1 score in the 65cc Open class - which still gave him the overall. The 65cc (10-11) winner, Hall, won the first moto but did not finish the second. Tyler Bulmer was the best rider in the 50cc Open (4-9) class - without winning a moto. Robbie Kerr won the first moto, with Bulmer second. Mikey Thomas was a hard-charging third, and Austin Cole and Dalton McLeran rounded out the top five. In the second moto, Hector Roman came back from a terrible first moto. Roman took the holeshot and never looked back to take the moto win. Darin Walker and Bulmer battled it out for the second spot, and Bulmer got the nod in the end. Thomas and first-moto winner Kerr finished fourth and fifth. • C'ayron Memoria' ouadarioa Donate today For information call 714-751-7433 3505-M Cadillac Avenue, Costa Mesa, CA 92626 "CYCLE NEWS NEVER COVERS THE RACES IN MY AREA ...
