2.23-mile road course with 15 comers. Nestled in between many acres of fannland, the
track surprised many racers with both the
technical configuration and a gripping tire surface unusual for new tracks.
Saturday was dominated by Supersport
races and Trophy Dashes. The competition
was tough and close for racers chasing contingency dollars and trophies. AMA Superstock
racer and eRA number-one plate holder
Jensen of Chaffee, North Dakota, dominated
both the Middleweight 600cc and Heavyweight
750cc Supersport races. Denning, of
Shawnee, Kansas; Jeff Kramer of St Louis,
Missouri; and Wes Good of Independence,
Minnesota. also all put in strong finishes.
In the late afternoon, a grueling 20-lap
Trophy Dash was dominated by Jason Hobbs
of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota. Bryan Soberg
and Kurt Schuschke dominated the lightweights, while Shane Butts dominated the
250cc GP classes.
On Sunday afternoon, Grand Prix and
Superbike races pushed the envelope for the
newly set track record of 1:33, which was
established by Jeff Kramer. Steve Johnson of
Savage, Minnesota, posted a close second-
fastest time.
In the a.and Prix races, Scott Ruehle of SI.
Cloud, Minnesota, and Denning dominated the
classes, along with Steve Johnson and David
Wappler of Onalaska, Wisconsin.
In the Superbike races, once again Den·
ning and Kramer cleaned up all the wins. Paul
Mason of Blue Springs, Missouri, and Scali
Ruehle also posted strong finishe,.

event. There are five more races on the sched·
ule for the remainder of the year, including
another at MidAmerica Motorplex (August 1618) and four at Brainerd International Raceway in Minnesota (May 3-5, June 21-23, July
26-28, and September 13-15).

the gate go to Ermolenko. It was short-lived.
They hit the back straightaway, and Larsen
ran out of racing room and ended up in the
wall.
They lined up for a complete restart.
Again, Ermolenko got out on top, with Hicks,
on a borrowed bike, in hot pursuit. At the end
of quick four laps, Ermolenko had broken
Hicks' winning streak and had his first Scratch
main win. Hicks was second, with Larsen and
Castro third and fourth.
The Scratch Consi was "Schwartz 101."
The veteran showed the younguns how it's
done as he went wire to wire. Krips was second, with DeFries third. DiFrancesco could not
make the call.
The Handicap main had DeFries and Krips
on the 20, with Ermolenko, Castro, Larsen
and Hicks all on the 50. Krips went out hard
and was hanging tough, and It looked like the
win would be his. Four laps in, Hicks went to
work on the inside and moved Krips out and
got by to take the lead as the white fiag came
out. One lap later, Larsen got the drive out of
turn four, and he won the race to the checkered. Krips claimed third. Castro, Ermolenko
and DeFries rounded out the field.
Doug Benjamin topped Rick Valdez and
Billy Braden to win the Division Two main. In
his first season, Geoff Herkner looked very
good winning the Division Two B main.
Ed Martinez and Neil Facchini were second
and third.
