The race for second was a battle royal, as
Finn and Kraft went to wer to see which rid~
would take the runner-up spot. Kraft appeared
to have the upper hand in the rougher sandy
section out back, while Ann was faster up top
on the hard-packed section. These two riders
swapped positions on nearly every lap, with
Finn holding off a last-lap charge by Kraft to
take second place in mote two as well as secMoreland's Motocross

Thunder Cross Motorsports Part<: Joel Nicholson (11) edges out Danny Baxley (14) for
the second-moto holeshot in the combined Gran Prix Two 25Occl500cc AlBIC contest at
round five of the Metro Racing Florida Vintage Series in Okeechobee,
STANTON, MI, APR. 6
Moreland's Motocross welcomed nearly 500
riders to stop four of the Michigan District 14
Spring Fling tour, which offers riders a chance
at factory contingencies from Honda, Kawasaki, Husqvarna and Suzuki. Justin Bradburn
proved to be top dog in the 85cc Beginner
class, topping all competitors by pushing his
RM80 to double-moto wins and the day's
overall.
When the 39 85cc Beginners came around
tum one, Blake ThorJand was out front, with
Chad Hurren, Dustin Finn, Lance Kill and
Bradburn hot on his heels. Thorland's lead
lasted less than a lap, as a trip to the ground
negated his great start and opened up the
door for Hurren to take the lead - momentariwas charging. Antoon lost touch with the leaders shortly after when he took a spill. This left
three riders battling for the lead. Brantley
picked off Graves for second and then
Kretschmer for the lead. Kretschmer was not
giVing up and he stayed close, as Graves
slowly dropped back. Brantley won, over
Kretschmer. Graves took third place. Danys
charged through the pack and passed Morgan
for fifth and then soon caught the fading
Antoon. Danys got fourth place when it was all
over.
next comer and got the lead going into the pit.
The two pulled out from the rest of the field.
Nicholson let it all hang out on the back
straight and retook the lead. Baxley was not
giving up, though, and he surged forward into
the lead_ making Nicholson wonder a little. In
the end, Nicholson got the win in the A class
and Baxley got the B-class win. Hodge worked
up from a sixth-place start to take second in
the A class, over Brantley.
Brantley won the first moto of the combined Vintage 250cc/500cc A/B/C classes.
Woody Graves and Rick Danys followed
Brantley in the A/B class. Fourth-round winner J_P. Antoon had some problems and finished fourth, and usual front-runner Matt
Kretschmer only finished fifth. Kirk Morgan
won the first C-class moto, over Kim Ross.
In the second moto, Graves took his Bultaco to the front. Kretschmer was back up to
speed and took the lead on the first lap.
Antoon held down third, and Brantley was
fourth. Brantley passed Graves for third and
