Jerles' 2-2 tally was good for the gold over Richardson's 1-3 score. Boyd's 4-1 finishes earned third. Each of the top five bikes in the Classic 125 cc Intermediate division were Husqvarnas, except for the 1971 SL Honda ridden by AHRMA executive director Dave Lamberth. Lambert's potent little four-stroke clocked in at second overall, behind class winner Larry Towning of Ohio. The battle for third overall was close, and it went down to the wire, with Michael Barker holding off New Jersey's Mike Mitrione in the final laps. Barker refused to yield his third-spot position and earned the bronze in a points tie over Mitrione. The outcome of the Open Age Expert contest was determined in a last-lap, winner-take-all battle in the final moto: Steve Evans held on to the point and clinched the victory over Rhett Smith.
