David Lynch topped Doug Benjamin and Randy Kreps to win the Support main. and Michael Novratil got home ahead of Brian Hunt 5. Steve Dziadus (Jaw). District 41 AMA Loretta Lynn's Qualifier Freestone County Raceway Draycott Takes Freestone By baffled. so he just waited for Norris to remount before getting under way and then passed him out of the turn before the second S turn. Norris repassed Willig just after the finish line in the first sweeper. Willig then went down in the sweeper after the first infield jump; he was unable to finish the race and had to push his bike to the finish line. Draycott took the win by a large margin over Norris. who was followed by Nicholas Bosheers. Hayden Lightfoot and Wyatt Autrey. Willig was on top of his game in moto two. grabbing the holeshot in front of Draycott. but then he stalled his bike and the entire field passed him by. Norris took over second and tried to keep Draycott in sight. Meanwhile. Willig got under way and got around Bosheers. Autrey and lightfoot for third by the end of the first lap. On the final lap. Draycott stalled. but he had such a good lead that he was able to get back under way and KAT SPANN WORTHAM. TX. APR. 13·14 iders gathered at Freestone County Raceway for the second of three District 41 AMA Lorella Lynn's area qualifiers. the first step to the upcoming June Youth and Amateur Regional Qualifiers. Saturday's schedule barely made it through the final second moto. the 51cc (7-8) Stock. before thunderstorms rolled through the area. resulting in a mad dash for cover as the winds swept canopies up, and thunder and lightning proved just how powerful Mother Nature can be. Less than two hours later. the storm had passed and the sun was shining bright. Dawson Draycott led the first 51 cc (4-6) moto off the gate on Saturday. chased by James Norris and DFW KTM's Bradley Willig. Norris fell in the first S turn before the finish line. Willig was close enough to make the pass. but the deep single line had him R 62 MAY 8. 2002' c u e I e n e vv os still take the win. Lightfoot reeled in Willig for third, and a heated battle ensued on the final lap. Lightfoot went down in the first S turn before the checkered flag. which gave Willig some breathing room. but then Willig went down in the next S turn. Willig was up just as Lightfoot caught him and both headed to the finish line. Willig took the position. with Lightfoot fourth, followed by Autrey. Florida's Colten Maynard got the holeshot in the first 85cc (7-11) Stock moto, chased by J&M Racing/Stubb's Ricky Davis and Thousand Oaks Kawasaki/Pro Circuit/ Steve's Auto Repair-backed Zeb Smith. Smith got around Davis and went after Maynard. but he was unable to make a pass for the lead. Justin Dickey stepped up to the plate and passed into third by the end of the moto, followed by GRC Racing's Corey Self, Maynard and Extreme Outdoor Motorsports/Trim Tech of Austin's Ryan Serrano at the finish. Maynard was once again the fastest off the gate in moto two, grabbing the holeshot in front of Davis, Smith and Dickey. Smith went down just after Jump 3 and remounted in eighth place. Maynard was on fire and began to put some real estate between himself and Davis. while Smith began to work his way up to the front-runners. Maynard slid out at the top of lap three but had enough distance to remount without losing a position. Ryan Serrano had a grip on third at the finish. while positions changed behind him. Smith. in sixth. made a last-lap effort to improve his score, going inside of Austin Boney going into section two and making the pass over the jump for fifth. Maynard took the win. but his fifth in moto one would only net him second overall. Davis used a 1-2 tally for the win. while Smith went 2-5 for third. The 125cc A and B Stock classes were double-gated. with the A riders departing the gate first. led by Honda of Houston/FMF's James Marshall. Cody Drewek got the B-gate holeshot as the fastest riders of the day hit the course. Marshall quickly established himself as the A leader. with Bardwell Yamaha/Rads Cycle/Race Tech's Coy Hobgood in second. followed by Kyle Williams and Erik Huedepohl. Bradley Mikolas wasted no time finding his way into the B lead. Both David Tarnow and Jason Gaddis got around Drewek on the first lap and battled for position. with Gaddis winning the war for the number-two spot. Drewek passed Tarnow for third and held it to the finish. followed by Tarnow. Rusty Huddle and Clayton Miller. Marshall got the holeshot again in the second moto and raced unchallenged to the finish. followed by Hobgood. Mikolas was the fastest B rider in moto two and set a blistering pace all the way to the finish. Tarnow gated behind Mikolas and kept it on two wheels to take second at the flag. followed by Huddle, Drewek and Miller.
