Perris Raceway Blais' Glory By MIKE "SIR S.IIl£Y" RYER PERRIS, CA, APR. 7 Taylor Happe shot out of the gate like a pellet from a slingshot in both motos of the 250cc Beginner class at the Wrd round of the Perris Raceway and Haro Bikes Spring Shootout but lost the lead in both motos. Happe chalked up the loss to a poor night's sleep alter working on his bike into the wee hours of the morning. In moto one, Happe lost the lead to Nicholas Blais with two laps to go. A flat tire for Blais allowed Ervin Tyles to pick up the win. Blais held on to second, while Chris Rohde moved up past Happe for third. Blais was fresh and fast in the second moto, while Happe was just trying to stay alive for a possible top-three finish. Blais was on Happe's rear wheel earlier in the moto when Blais lost the front end after being breakchecked. Blais moved from fourth to second, behind Happe, only to lose the front wheel to gravity and drop to third. Blais was forced to battle with Matt Grabeel for second and made the pass over the gO-foot table in the back. Blais once again pulled up on Happe's rear wheel, and this time Happe went wide and let Blais underneath, as Happe was just trying to hang on for 8 top-three. Blais got the welldeserved overall, with Tyles picking up second overall, and Grabeel went 5-3 for third. Nick Thiel came from fifth to take the lead from Taylor early on in the first moto of the 125cc Novice class. Kyle Foltz dropped to third as Thiel passed by on his mission to capture the lead. Taylor and Foltz came hot into a right-hand turn on the last lap, and Foltz slammed into Taylor while nearly bumping him off course. Taylor looked over at Foltz and grabbed the throttle as they headed for the checkers. Taylor held on to second while A.J. Steinbach was dropped from third to fourth, thanks to Thiel, and Aaron Gwin picked up the fifth spot. In moto two, Taylor lost the lead to Foltz on lap one to spoil Thiel's overall. Taylor went
