The Pee Wees were also dodging snowflakes on Saturday. Brandon Russ was the top dog in this class, laying down two solid efforts to claim the overall Pee Wee crown. Anthony Perez used a good second-moto ride to slide inlo second after Chris DeFalco, who seemed to have second locked up, bailed in race twcl and dipped to third, ahead of Daylon World KTM 250 to four wins in four molos at Scenic Highlands Motosports Park. Schlacht, who also gets help from BWR Suspension, Gary Bailey MX Schools, Spy, AP Designs, and PJ1, looks much improved since last year. He's put away his wild style while flying low and far on the doubles and triples. He was never overjumping or out of control on his way to victory in the 250cc Band 16-24 Collegeboy c1osses. Following Schlacht across the line in both 250cc B motos was District 11 Honda rider Jason King. In the 16-24 Collegeboy class, second over811 with two seconds was Yamaha jockey Scott Darling. Track owner Tim Bernhard had the course in fine shape. He's recently added a new PA system. With 22 riders in the 65cc (7·9) division, the racing was hot and heavy. Taking the overall without a moto win was the consistent Logan Mihoci of District 5. who went 2-2. Second overall was Dylan Bantum, with a 1-3 score. In third was Curt Gaski (3-4). The top three were all on Kawasakis. Fourth was KTM rider Seth Weis with a 7-1 tally. In 125cc B action, young Danny Kosmerl, who just moved up from the Mini ranks, got the holeshot in both motos and proceeded to check out. While Kosmer! was setting a blistering pace on his VZ 125, the real action was behind him. Second through fifth were like links on a chain - it was extremely tight racing in both motos. When the checkered flag came out, Jason King was second overall on an orange Honda with a 4-2 tally. Third was Vamaha pilot Darling (5-3). Fourth was Reese. Results PfW; I. With 20 racers in the 85cc (7-11) class, McCutcheon dominated from start to finish. Second through fourth were Kawasaki riders Jimmy King, Michael Blauman and Jacob Bomhorst. Fifth was Suzuki-mounted Dylan Bantum. In Extra Mini (7-11) action, McCutcheon was again out front, with Suzuki jockey Sean Kilkenny taking second overall. Third through fifth were Kawasaki riders King, Bornhorst and his brother Josef Bomhorst. The Senior Mini class was another 20-rider gate. Vamaha-mounted Aaron Kline took the overall with 1-2 finishes. Second overall was local Kawasaki rider Nick Edgell (2-3). Third and fourth overall were also on Kawasakis: Thomas Beckett (4-4) and Pennsylvania's Broc Streit (3-5). Fifth was lone Honda rider Nathan Edwards. Vamaha-mounted Andy Sczypta won the second moto but had trouble in moto one, finishing 16th. He did win both motos in the Supermini class, keeping Kline at bay. Here, he's followed by Sean Kilkenny (592), Jacob Bornhorst (3), Jimmy King (277), Dylan Bantum (929), Michael Blauman (074) and the rest of the pack. KINGMAN, AZ, MAR. 17 Dillon Christiansen showed plenty of the old "flash and dash" at Kingman Raceway in Kingman, Arizona on Sajnt Patrick's Day, as he came away with first-place trophies in both the Open 125cc/25Occ contest and the Expert race. Christiansen, the most stylish rider on the track, as well as the fastest, romped to double-moto wins in the Open clash to claim first overall. He had it tougher in the Expert dust-up, but the results were the same; two wins and the overall crown. Jason Hoover nailed the holeshot, ahead of Kyle Jones and Christiansen, to start the action off in the Expert race. Christiansen shifted up and whistled past the two leaders in the first few turns. Christiansen soon pulled a lead on the field, as Jones was hammering on Hoover to try to grab second. Christiansen flew past the checkers with an easy moto·one victory, while Hoover and Jones went back and forth until Jones could secure second permanently. Late in the race, Glenn Cowan came on strong to lay a nifty inside/out pass on Hoover to nip him for third. Christiansen hauled down the start straight in a bid to ace the second half. Hoover was tucked in close behind him until Jones flew past him at the back tabletop to grab second. Rainbow Canyon Motocross Park Hermann Hauls In the Hardware By DICK GOODWIN ELGIN, NV, MAR. 16 Racing in blizzardlike conditions (this is the middle of the desert, for goodness' sakel), Matt Hermann proved that he was an allweather racer, as he sloshed through the slop to win the combined Big Bike race. Shooting off the line in a near white-out, Over 40 Expert Hermann grabbed the holeshot to lead 125cc Pro rider Josh Taylor and the rest of the field. Taylor made a snowy pass for the lead on the straightaway, but Hermann zapped him back shortiy thereafter to pUll away and slosh to the win. Jason Lopez led the 250cc Novices home. The weather took a short break as secondhalf action got under way. Hennann showed fair-weather speed as well. rounding the first tum ahead of Randle Reese and Curtis Moon. Lopez muscled his way into third, but Taylor was the racer on a rampage, carving his way through the pack to claim second by lap two. Hermann was ripping it up out in front, and not even Taylor could put a dent in his lead. Reese was racing strong in third. Hermann rolled to the win in race number two and claimed the overall Over 40 Expert-class victory. Taylor flashed across in second to lead Reese, who topped the Over 30 Novice class. Lopez miscued on the white-flag lap but still took the overall 250cc Novice title. Eric Hermann was the best among the Sportsman entries. n _ .... s Rainbow Canyon Motocross Park: The Big Bike Open class leaves Ihe line in a snowstorm in Elgin, Nevada.
