Perris used to host smooth IT scrambles. Yet Tashjian looked right at home, despite the fact that he lives in faraway Burbank, California. "I don't know what it is, but this track sujts my style: he said after taking the checkered flag. Tashjian also topped the Evolution Three Expert class aboard his RM250, but he had to settle for second on his 1980 RM400 behind the Maico of perennial front-runner Ed Stovin in the Evolution Two 500cc Expert race. Teenager Julia Roysdon continued her winning ways at Perris, beating a bunch of guys to win the Evolution Two 250cc Novice race, as well as topping the Ladies Intermediate class on her Yamaha. Unfortunately, there was one woman who was faster than Roysdon, and that was Ladies Expert winner Tami Hasse, who's almost old enough to be Julia's mother. In fact, Tami's son Dylan finished second in the Junior Vintage class, while Julia's mom, Chris, finished second in class behind her daughter on her Suzuki. The Junior and Ladies' classes were run in conjunction with the Pre-1968 and Pre- 1972 125cc classes, and the overall winner was none other than 19705 star Bruce McDougal. It wasn't an easy win, however, as the rider of the green Penton had his hands full with the black Husqvarna of transplanted New Jerseyan Jon Hart. The best race of the day, though, came in the combined Evolution Over 30/0ver 40 contest. SVRG president Rick Doughty and Stovin ran 1-2 on their big-bore Maicos in moto one, and just when it looked like moto two would end the same, Scott Davis sneaked past Stovin over the finish-line tabletop to claim second overall! Davis, who's a real eighth-liter devotee, rode a Yamaha YZ in that race, but he also topped the Evolution 125cc class aboard a Suzuki RM. Results IRONMAN/EVO NOV: I. Brad Van K~uren (Hus); 2.
