Martinez was late for the warm-up lap and had to start the race from pit out, behind the entire field, but he steadily worked his way through the field and into fifth place. Up front, Prieto was turning lap times in the J :29s, which were close to the record he had previously set. By the time he took the checkered flag, he had really stretched out his gap over second place. "I didn't want to make the same mistake I did at Homestead, throwing it away with a three-second lead there," Prieto said after the race, "so it feels great to win again, after doing that! I couldn't do it without my brother Sean, and Prieto Racing, and all my family, especially my wife." He also thanked his crew, Alexis and Joe, for all their hard work, adding, "I couldn't do it without these guys they make it a lot easier for me to ride." LISA THEOBALD WEST PALM BEACH, FL, MAR. 17 hane Prieto won five of his seven events, including the Unlimited Grand Prix, during the Leon Backus Memorial event at Moroso Motorsports Park. In fact, he was on the podium a total of six times and finished the weekend as the biggest winner. After him, Marco Martinez, Todd Keesee and Darren Luck were the only other multiple winners, with two victories apiece. Prieto won the Unlimited Grand Prix after leading all six laps of the race. Although Damian Weber nailed the holeshot, Prieto quickly passed him to take over the lead, which he would not relinquish. Johno Bowman was not far behind them, running solid in third place. The top three held their positions throughout the entire race, without challenge. All the passing action occurred from fourth place back.
