North Carolina HS Asso. C'ship Series Round 1: Daniels Ridge Hayes Fever By TAYLORSVlllE,NC,MAR. 17 he first of 14 rounds in the North Carolina Hare Scrambles Series got off to a muddy start at Daniels Ridge. The rain began to fall early race day morning and continued for nearly eight hours, turning the event into a survival run. Nearly 175 riders signed up, despite the cold temperatures and heavy rain, to make an attempt to conquer the 5-mile woods courseturned-mud bog. The incident gave the third-placed rider, Moto-Imports Kawasaki-sponsored Daniel Morrison, the opportunity he was waiting for. He took advantage of Deaton's situation and moved into second while Deaton cleared the mud from his eyes. On lap six, Morrison had similar luck when he became entangled with lapped riders on a steep, rutted hillclimb.
