streak of six race wins by fellow Washingtonian Kurt Stevens. In both motos, Stevens was a victim of firstturn pileups. Stevens' best moto of the day came in moto one; the Yamaha rider worked up from 14th place after picking himself up off the ground, although he couldn't catch winner Price. Moto two was a near-repeat: Price and Stevens led the field at the drop of the gate, but Stevens again found himself sprawled out in the loamy sand coming into tum one. This time, though, Stevens was unable to repeat his earlier come-from-behind performance, as Price, Jay Lael, Frank Campbell and Kary Krahel all finished ahead of the current points leader, snapping his win streak. Yamaha-mounted Scott Howland hammered the competition in the adjoined Intermediate class, topping both motos. Christopher DelAir (5-2), Neumann (4-3), Lyle Beach (3-4) and Scott McAlister (2-5) completed the top five overall finishers. Honda rider Bill Grubin and Can-Am jockey Randy Skiver split moto wins in the competitive Over 40 Vintage Amateur class, but it was Skiver's unusually high 4-1 tally that let him take home the top brass. Grubin's second moto was a disaster; the Washington rider crashed and finished 14th, allowing CZ rider Mark Mittman to take second overall via 2-4 finishes. Third overall went the way of Bultaco jockey Bryan Anderberg, with 6-4 placings. CZ-mounted C.J "Siege" James jolted the competition in a win of the Pre-1970 Expert class, posting 1-2 moto tallies to top BSA rider Ed Locke (3-1), who won moto two, and Dorian Sleeper (2-3), who was riding a 1969 Husqvarna 400.
