Jarred Browne 14251 and Justin Keeney 12501 each won two classes on the day. Browne was the winner in the aocc 112-13) and aocc Supennlni classes, and Keeney was victorious in the aocc 114·16) and aocc Open classes. after Weber had shared the lead on his Thor/Smith Suzuki, only to finish second each time. Their duel didn't catch much of the spotlight, though, as they ran simultaneously with the 250cc Pros. The 125cc Intermediate contest caused controversy and anger, as all 32 gates were used at the starting line in both motos. In the first, Scott Howe, on the Answer/Factory Effie Yamaha, got the holes hot and led from start to finish, with FMF/Honda of Houston's Daniel Sani working from fourth on lap one to second at the finish. The second moto immediately erupted into a melee in turn one, with more than a dozen riders splishsplashed all over the scenery. This caused one spectator to run across the track and tackle one of the riders, tossing him over a hay bale. Meanwhile, Howe avoided all this by getting the holeshot, and it looked like he was on his way to a sweep - but he was stunned when Daryl Ecklund shoved his Chaparral Honda into the lead on the last lap for a surprise win. Ecklund could only claim third overall, however, as he only finished eighth in the first contest. Chad Gaumer was runner-up with a 3-5 showing. eN Competition Park San Jacinto, California Results: January 27, 2002 IRound 21 P/W BEG: I. SkyJer Hawkins (KTM); 2. Matthew Evans (KTM); 3.
