HrIand went on to win both motos and then retumed in the Over 25 event and repeated his win record there. Mississippi's Dyllon Beasley snared the holeshot in the first 51 cc Open moto, swinging wide at a high rate of speed to take the lead over Tanner Neujahr, Glenn and Jonathan Cojocar. Glenn claimed second as they exited the first turn by grabbing more throttle and shooting up the middle between Neujahr and Cojocar. By the end of the first lap, Glenn was at the controls, with Beasley in second, followed by Neujahr. All three stayed close through the first two laps. It was a tight battle to the end, when he won five out of six motos entered. After two rain-outs due to unusually heavy rains in December, Freestone was finally able to kick off the series, and 223 riders showed up. Also garnering triple wins was Honda of Houston's J.J. Pecsok, who 36 FEBRUARY 20, 2002' cue • • n • _ s with Beasley making a charge on Glenn for the lead, but he caught Glenn's back tire and went down in the finish-line Sturn. Neujahr passed Beasley for second before he could remount to finish second. Glenn absconded with the holeshot in the second moto, with Cojocar and Beasley in pursuit. Glenn took control of the race as Beasley made his way by Cocojar for second and held that position to the finish. Glenn finished perfectly for the win, while Beasley used a 3-2 tally for second and Neujahr a 2-4 score for third. Pecsok began his winning streak in the 125cc Intermediate contest, though not without a battle from Rusty Huddle and Mark Blackwell. The only 125cc Pro rider, Shane Doughty, and Adam Turner shot off the gate toward the first turn, with Turner taking the lead going in but Doughty out front as they exited. Huddle got behind Turner, followed by Pecsok. Huddle got around Turner as both Pecsok and Turner went at it tooth and nail for the next two laps. They got together in a turn on lap three, which left Turner on the ground and Pecsok in third, while Doughty led the pack for the Pro win and Huddle took the Intermediate win. Doughty and Turner once again led the gate in moto two, with Pecsok in the hunt. Pecsok was all over Turner for the first couple of laps, going side by side up the mountain and into the rocker section. Pecsok passed Turner in the next turn. Huddle closed in on Turner on lap three but was unable to make a pass before the end of the race two laps later. Pecsok took the win in the Intermediate division, finishing close to Doughty, who led the race from wire to wire. Pecsok's 3-1 tally was good enough for the overall, while Huddle gathered up second via a 1-3 score. Hyland snatched the holeshot in the first Over 30 moto with a tight inside-comer maneuver as John Brett and Kyle Dietrich railed the outside. Hyland held the lead throughout the race, with Brett at his backside. Mark Cornelia moved into third early in the race and held his position, followed by Mark White and Eric Pechacek. Hyland began to lead off the second moto, but unfortunately he stalled his four-stroke in the first turn as Cornelia led the way onto the course. Hyland was on a mission, and inside three laps he went from dead J.J.
