Los Angeles County Raceway Sierakowski Says Sayonara By GREG ROBERTSON PAl..i'\DALE, CA, DEC. 16 YZl25-mounted Jason Sierakowski finished off the year in resounding fashion by simply outrunning his competition during the Merry Christmas Grand Prix held at Los Angeles County Raceway. The Califomia Racing Club event was also the third and final round of the annual Trophy Series. When starter Don Gossett waved the green flag for the dead-engine start, Josh Jackson got to the first tum first, ahead of Sierakowski, Chad Abbott, Andrew Rhoads and Brett Moscrop. Jackson's lead was short-lived, as Sierakowski took over the point position as the field tore through the Saddle Glen portion of the layout for the first time. By the end of lap two, Sierakowski had five seconds on Rhoads. who had his hands full with Brett Auerbach. Jeremy Cote had followed Auerbach up through the pack to run in fourth, ahead of Jackson and Moscrop. Sierakowski continued on pretty much uncontested to greet the checkers first with a comfortable lead after 45 minutes of racing. Auerbach was in no real danger of losing second place right up until the finish. Moscrop slowly worked his way around Jackson and Cote to earn the third-place trophy. Danny Ramirez was pretty impressive in the 250cc Beginner class. He motored away with the win after 45 minutes of track time. Chris Walker kept Ramirez honest for a while before encountering problems and recording a DNF. Jerry Gordon ended up finishing a distant second, with Robert Ibon overcoming a bad start to claim third, ahead of Luke Rogers and Brandon Banaga. Ramirez proved that his 250cc Beginner~ class victory was no fluke as he came from out of the pack on his CR250 to walk away with the Vet Beginner~c1ass win as well. Early leader Eric Hargraves would hold off Robert Gebo for second place, with Stephen Berry and Gordon rounding out the top five. Leonard Kirschner was the best of the rest, as his solid 2-2 rides were good for second overall. Bob Barnett came in third overall after putting up a 4-3 performance on the scoreboard. Alan Olson was impressive in the Over 50 Master ranks, as he led every lap of both motos and eventually won going away both times out for the overall class honors on the day. T.V. Holmes pushed his KTM to a solid second-place finish with a 2-2 score, while Bengt Johansson came in third with 5·3 rides for the day. Results (Hon). Los Angeles County Raceway: Josh Jackson (603) leads eventual winner Jason Sierakowski (200), Ryan Bastin (270), eventual runner-up Brett Auerbach (267) and the rest of the pack at the start of the CRC Merry Christmas Grand Prix 125cc Beginner class in Palmdale, California. _ SAN BERNARDINO, CA. DEC. 8 Midweek rains left the Racing Enterprises Motorsports' natural-terrain motocross course in perfect condition, as the moist, sandy loam produced positively beautiful berms and epic racing conditions. The action was tight in many of the classes, with Randy Skinner piloting his RM 125 to the overall class win in the highly competitive Over 40 Expert division, while in the Vet Beginner ranks, Jim Roberts came out on top after putting in two solid motos. Skinner gated midpack in both motos, but he impressively weaved his way through the pack each time out for the win. Ken Ehlers and Tim Tucker battled it out all day, with Ehlers' strong second moto and 3~2 scores overall placing him second on the day. Tucker's solid 2-4 rides were good for third overall. The Vet Beginner class is hoUy contested week in and week out, and this week was no exception. Roberts had to push his Yamaha YZF hard in both motos, and eventually he was rewarded for his efforts and prevailed on the day with a solid 2- 1 tally. A crash in the first moto was the undoing of Tay Burgess, but his second-moto win placed him second overall with a 4-1 score. Mike Hillion rode consistently all day aboard his YZ250 and filled out the top three slots with his solid 3-3 effort. The BOcc Beginner class was an interest~ ing affair, as Cody Brownfield ripped to both moto wins and the overall class honors on the day. Behind him there was plenty of action, however, as the Tedder and Tucker clans battled it out all day. Chasen, Dakota and Myles Tedder vied for positions in some tight racing against Justin and Nick Tucker. In the end, it was Myles Tedder taking second overall with 3-2 scores, while Nick Tucker filled out the top three slots with a 2-5 tally. 80 BEG: I. Cody Brownfield (Hoo): 2. Myles Tedder (Yom): 3.
