Florida Winter Am Series Round 1: Gatorback Cycle Park sweeper. Woods was up to 13th. On lap three, the order was Hadsell, Currie, Gray, Tipping, Carsten, Adams and Woods. Carsten tried to pass Tipping at the S turn; they tangled and both went down. On lap four, the order was Hadsell, Currie, Gray, Adams, Woods, Roy Horton and Carsten. The top three pulled away. Woods passed Adams on lap five. The order stayed the same until the Gray held the gas on the longest around the sweeper and took the lead. Hadsell was in eighth and pushing. Hadsell moved into seventh. Gray pushed the pace and pulled away. With two laps left, the order was set; Gray, Woods, Currie, Carsten, Adams, Hadsell and Tipping. As the second moto started, Gray led Woods, Tipping, Currie, Hadsell and Carsten. This was not a baseball or hockey game. This race was better than any game that Joshua Woods and Brian Gray had. Woods won the 125cc A and 250cc/500cc Pro classes; Gray won the 250cc/500cc A and 125cc Pro classes. Unlimited Sports was put to the test as 820 riders from four countries - the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada and Peru - showed up to take on the very rough course. More than 50 percent of this country's states were represented. The day was partly cloudy, with temperatures reaching 65. Woods and Gray met in the 125cc Pro contest. Tyson Hadsell grabbed the holeshot in the first moto. Woods, Paul Currie, Gray and Barry Carsten, held second through fifth. By the end of lap one, Woods led, Gray was second, and Hadsell and Currie had dropped to third and fourth. On lap two, Currie regained third. By lap three, Woods and Gray had pulled out from the rest of the pack. Gray pushed Woods to the limit, trying so many different lines that he looked out of control. With three laps to go, Gray passed Woods at the far end of the track. Gray turned on the throttle and pulled out two seconds on Woods. Carsten and Troy Adams scuffled, with Carsten grabbing fifth. In moto two, Paul Perebijnos led the pack into tum one and through the S turn. Behind Perebijnos were Jarrett Tipping, Currie, Hadsell and Kyle Garro. Gray started in the top 10, but Woods was caught in a first-turn pileup. Hadsell took command on lap two, with Tipping and Currie following. Gray sliced his way to fourth. Perebijnos and Carsten were fifth and sixth. Currie slipped to the inside of Tipping at the S turn on lap two. Carsten took fifth from Perebijnos on the long I e n e _ s last lap. Five bike lengths separated the top three; when they reached the announcer's condo, Gray managed to slingshot to the outside and jump down into the gator pit on the inside of Currie. The pass stuck as the two reached the horseshoe. Hadsell won, and Gray, Currie, Woods, Adams and Carsten followed. The first 250cc Pro moto started with Hadsell, Woods and Gray leading. Hadsell fell on the back side of the track. As the first lap ended, the order was Woods, Gray, Carsten, Currie, Tipping, Adams and Perebijnos. By lap three, the top two pulled out. out and did not finish. Woods took the lead. The order behind him was Gray, Hadsell, Carsten, Tipping and Adams. By the last lap, Woods had stretched out a lead, and he put it on cruise control. Hadsell closed the gap on Gray. Hadsell tried the inside and outside of the turns but was unable to make a pass. The final order was Woods, Gray, Hadsell, Carsten, Adams and Tipping. Some classes needed qualifiers to narrow the field down to 40 riders, including the 125cc Youth (12-15) class. Bryan Johnson led the first qualifier. On lap two, Johnson hit a bump wrong and went down; he had just enough time to stay in second after Josh Lichtle went by. Johnson caught Lichtle by the last lap but could not make a pass. In qualifier two, Matt Boni was out front. At the end of lap one, Davi Millsaps got the lead, jumping down into the gator pit. The two pulled way out by the end.
