Fall Classic Hare and Hound: Nev laBorde, gunning for his second OMRA desert win at the season finale of the OMRA Cross Country Series, the Fall Classic, in Millican, Oregon. wind allowed passing when the course turned in the right direction. The course was very fast - fourthand fifth-gear, for the most part - but it also featured the occasional rocky ;;ection that would remind racers of their religion. After 80 miles of grinand-bear-it competition, the long line in the sand came to the checkers one by one. Finishing off another year for the OMRA Cross Country Series, the Fall Classic puts another chapter in the books. eN fall Classic Hare and Hound Millican, Oregan Results: November 11, 2001 (Round 12 at 121 AA: t. The track was watered sl ightly before the first motos and during intermission, so there was no dust. In the first 125cc Intermediate moto, Christopher Belcher led the pack. Behind him were Kris Clark, Camden Cruz, Raymond Whitley and Kris Stone. Before the first lap was over, Cruz powered his way to the front. Clark knew that in order to keep up the pace, he had to get by Belcher, and he did just that. Cruz set a fast pace, and Clark did all he could to keep up. The two stayed close, and Cruz came away with the moto win. Belcher fell on the second lap, handing third to Whitley. Brad Christopher moved up to fifth. Cruz set the pace early in the second moto but made a mistake. Clark was there to capitalize and take the lead. Whitley held second for a short time, until Cruz recovered and took the spot back. There was no catching Clark, and Cruz settled for second. Whitley, Christopher and Belcher rounded out the top five. Jimmy Hayes led the first 80cc Intermediate moto. Jacqueline Ross, Kyle Clark, Chris Hale and Ryan Void followed. The top four stayed close the entire moto, waiting for each other to make a mistake. Kyle moved to second by the end of lap one. Hayes tried putting a little distance on the pack, but that didn't work and the four stayed right together. At halfway, Hale moved around Ross for third. They all ended the moto only a few bike lengths apart. In moto two, Hayes led again. Ross and Kyle were second and third. The three were wheel to wheel the entire moto. It all came down to the last lap, two corners from the end. Hayes and Ross used the long outside bowl turn as Kyle dived to the small inside berm. Kyle turned the throttle and sneaked to the inside of the last turn, beating both Hayes and Ross to the line. Void and Daniel Walker rounded out the top five. The 250cc Advanced class was another exciting race. Clint Frank pulled the holeshot in the first moto. Cole Studstill, Gary Allred, Jim Chludzinski, Steve Dumond and Wayne Hodges were breathing down his neck. Studstill passed Frank at the triple for the lead. Frank fell in the last turn before lap two, and now it was five dicing for the lead. Studstill pulled out a small lead, while Hodges fought his way to second. Hodges closed the gap but was never able to make a pass stick. The top two were starting to pull a slight lead. Dumond made his way around Chludzinski, and he knew he had to get around Allred to have a chance at the lead. Dumond pressured Allred down the back straight. Dumond got the run he needed down the next straight and made the pass at the end of the triple. The top four stayed close, but the order was set. Allred got the jump in moto two and led from start to finish. The race was still close to the finish. Chludzinski was second; as Dumond, Studstill and Hodges followed. A lot of rubbing of plastic was going on during the first lap, as Hodges powered his way into third. By lap two, Hodges moved to second and set his sights on Allred. The top two tried to separate themselves from the rest of the pack. Chludzinski lost third to Dumond over the triple and then lost fourth to Studstill in the same spot on the very next lap. Dumond and Studstill recovered and tried to catch the top two. Hodges challenged Allred for the lead going inside and outside of every 4-STRK AM: 1. Luke Suva; 2. Terkel McBroom; 3. Alex Bragg; 4.
