SETRA/Moose Hare Scrambles Series Round 3: Little Brown Jug Stuckey a Dynamo at Little Bro-wn Jug Bv KENNETH KING COlOMBOS,NC, OCT. 28 M Mill Creek Motocross: Josh Thompson extended his series points lead with a win in the Pro class at round 11 of the Alabama Fall series In Pell City. In the 250cc A class, Thompson grabbed the start in moto one and led Heisler all the way to the flag. In moto two, however, Heisler proved to be tough to beat, as he made the pass on Thompson on the second lap and looked strong as he pulled a slight gap. Thompson would not roll over, however, and he regained the lead for good on lap four. In the combined 125cc A and B race, Thompson was being challenged not by the other A-class riders but by YZ-mounted Drew Askew, who was contesting the B class. Askew continues to amaze the motocross community as he makes his transition to the big-bike ranks. Askew pulled the holeshot over the entire field in the first race and led Thompson to the checkered flag. Askew easily took the overall in his class, as did Thompson in the Pro ranks. ten. Having only managed to finish third in the Supermini class, Van Patten was out for revenge in the 85cc (12-13) year race - and he got it. The Vet classes had the usual barto-bar style of racing in almost all divisions. Heisler avenged his loss to Thompson in the Pro class by steamrolling the competition in the Over 35 class. Racer/evangelist Kevin Cozadd backed up a win in the Over 25 class by finishing runner-up to Heisler in the Over 35 class, besting Pro Action's Johnny Borders. Off-roader Dave Crain took his Gas Gas to the win in the Over 40 class, again ahead of Borders, who had missed the morning's practice entirely and began the day's program completely cold. The Over 48-c1ass win went to North Georgia motorcycle dealer Terrell Welborn, aboard a DRZ400 fourstroke. eN Bar-to-bar action was not limited to the A classes. In the 125cc C class, YZ-mounted Shane Mills again took top honors ahead of his nemesis Justin Graham. This month, Graham seemed destined to be the brides- (KTM); 5. The Greenville Enduro Riders held the race in the mountains of North Carolina, outside the town of Columbus. The last SETRA race held here was in the early 1990s. The course was tough - there's no other way to say it. It was full of enduro-type tight trails; gnarly off-cambers; steep, rocky, root-infested hills; and three creek crossings, one of which turned into a major bog in which some riders got stuck on every lap. The die-hard enduro riders found the trail to their liking, but the hare scrambles regulars were not as happy. The trail meandered through the hills, and about the only place to open it up was on a small motocross track, 7.5 miles long. The race would Mill Creel! MatDc:rass Pell City, AI...... The Kawasaki rider made it three in a row by taking the win at round three in the SETRA Hare Scrambles Series, the Little Brown Jug. Stuckey dominated the tough course, challenged only by Neeley Racing-backed KTM rider Jason Chancey, who has been just as hot lately, but in the Enduro Series. Chancey decided to race a hare scrambles, and had the race been a lap or two longer, he may have been able to dice it out for the lead with Stuckey. As it was, he would settle for second. Finishing third was Suzuki rider Doby Leonard, on his Suzuki off-cambers and tricky uphills.
