Club MXICedar Raceway Fall Motocross Series Round 4: Las Vegas Motor Speedway Worthing Worthy By Shippensburg Speedway: Chris Klinefelter (995) leads Raun Wood (88A) en route to the Sportsman win at the season finale for Districts 6 and 7 in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, but Wood wound up da winna in both the 250cc and 600cc A classes. With his usual 250cc Honda being "tired" from a successful campaign for the Hot Shoe Pro Sport 250cc title, Wood borrowed Doug MacDowell's YZ426F for the day. He jumped out to a quick lead over two-stroke riders Chris Klinefelter, Bob Sweeten and Shawn Baer in the 250cc A final. While Wood and Klinefelter were secure in their places, Baer kept pounding away at Sweeten, and he finally got by on the outside as they entered the third tum with two laps to go. The 600cc A event was similar, as Wood took the lead from Baer, Bill Bromley and Roy Miller. Some passing did occur on the narrow, cobblestone-like groove in the rear of the field, as Brian Phillips and 'Todd Kendig moved up from bad starts to take fourth and fifth by the end. Wood's miscue at the start of the Sportsman final made for one of the better finals. Klinefelter was first out of two, with Bryan Douglas, Amateur rider John Lewis, and Shawn Baer trailing. Wood started slicing his way through the field, setting his sights on Klinefelter after taking second at about the halfway point. However, on this track, catching is one thing; passing is another. Wood couldn't get under Klinefelter on the inside, so he tried high. Coming off the final turn, he was beside Klinefelter, but he drifted toward the wall, giving the win to Klinefelter. While his win in the 50cc (4-6) event was uneventful, Bromley had a constant shadow throughout the 50cc Oil-Injected contest - Josh Standiford. The pair immediately were several lengths in front of the others. Several times, Standiford would get beside Bromley, but he just didn't have enough to get by. John Long took the 65cc lead right away from Brett Pugh, Austin Greenland and Cameron Tyson. Greenland 48 NOVEMBER 28. 2001 • cue went into second, using the high end of the groove to get by Pugh in the first turn. By the fourth lap, Long and Greenland were side by side, battling for first, when they came up on a lapper. Long went high, Greenland low, but the lapper saw Long first and drifted to the inside - right into Greenland, causing the lapper to fall hard on the front straight. On the restart, Long kept the lead and Greenland was several lengths back. Joey Parks led a final for the first time this season, leading the 85cc (7-11) contest over Brandon Robinson, Pugh and Greenland. Coming off the second turn on lap three, both Robinson and Greenland moved up a spot, with Greenland taking the runner-up spot on the following lap, using the outside line entering turn three. Robinson held a constant three-length margin to the end. Long and Evan Baer joined Pugh and Parks in a battle for third that finally went to Long on the ninth lap. Nick Taylor led Dallas Baer and Jim Haas at the start of the 500cc Two-Valve contest, but a crash led to a restart, which Taylor led, while Haas' machine came off the line sounding off-song. After battling for most of the race, Baer made his final start in the 500cc class a winning one as he took the lead at the start of the seventh lap. _ SlIipP....... Justin Worthing spells it c-o-n-s-i-s-t-e-n-c-y, as he low-scored the whole 125cc Beginner group to take home the overall trophy after Club MX and Cedar Raceway held race four of six in their Fall Motocross Series at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Worthing blasted off the gate to lead Jeff Hart and Ken Hynes as race one got under way. Brian Fowler put on a big charge that shot him past everyone until he was on Worthing's rear tire. Randy GU1:man was also on the move, working his way up to third. Then Worthing dropped the hammer and built an impressive lead, while Fowler and GU1:man got into a vicious duel for second. By the whiteflag lap, Worthing was on Easy Street with a wire-to-wire victory . GU1:man finally prevailed to just nip Fowler at the finish by mere inches. Fowler started off the second half right, leading Hynes, Worthing and the rest of the field. Worthing was on fire, though, blit1:ing into the lead too hot, apparently, as he flew off the track and dropped back to second. Hynes took over the lead, with Worthing in hot pursuit. Fowler, GU1:man and Hart were battling right in their exhaust fumes. Hart eventually dropped off a bit, but the top four battled nose to ta iI for the rest of the race, with Hynes leading the group through the checkers and securing second overall. Worthing's very close second gave him the overall title in the 125cc Beginner class, while Fowler edged out GU1:man for third. When you say "Savage," you've said it all, as Blake "savaged" the 65cc Novice class with some spectacular racing. He popped out in front of Levii Hall and Dylan Henderson to start things off, and then promptly ran away and hid. When Hall went down in the back section, Henderson had second all to himself, while Shaun Harrison came up to challenge Chana Conder for third. Savage took an easy first-moto win, Henderson copped a solid second, and Harrison pulled down third. I Hall showed the way as race two began, with Savage and Condor right behind. Savage grabbed the point while Condor went off at the corner and Henderson and Harrison came on to challenge Hall for second. Savage rode off into the sunset again for another big win, guaranteeing him the 65cc Novice crown. Hall hung tough in second, but his first-moto gremlins kept him off the podium. Henderson's gritty third was good enough to eam him second overall, ahead of Harrison and Conder. CN Us Vegas Mar Speedway usVegas.Nn.... 1lauIts: IlcUber ZI. ZIOI l....nd 41 50 BEG (4-6): 1. J.Y.
