ki rolled to a stop. handing third for the moto
and third overall to Adam Brachear.
The 250cc A class had a host of fast riders
on the sign-up sheet. In moto one, Robert
Motsinger put his Kawasaki out front and was
cooking. Behind him was a battle of the fourstrokes. between Alex Rossetto and Todd
Sheedy. Rossetto put his Suzuki across the
line ahead of Sheedy's Vamaha. In moto two,
Motsinger again got out front, taking the moto
and overall wins. Rossetto again put his big
Suzuki into second for the moto, for second
overall. Doug Huston brought home his Honda
in third for the mota and overall.

Chris Shope also crashed early in the race and
was making a comeback.
The battle for second heated up between
Newhall and Barrick. Newhall made a clean
pass, only to have Barrick blast right past him
exiting a comer. The two were neck and neck
over the stadium whoops, but Newhall got a
little crazy and took himself and Barrick out
on top of the finish-line jump. That put Uriah
furtan and Valenson in second and third.
Valenson passed Furton over the double-double. By now, Hilton was way too far ahead for
anyone to catch him. Hilton took the win, followed by Valenson. Furton, Randy Fields and
Michael Hilani.
In the second moto, Hilton again earned
the holeshot. Valenson, Furton and Newhall
came around the first turn in a tight bunch
behind him. Newhall slipped to the inside of
Furtan on tum two. He tried to duplicate the
move over the double-double but came up
with nothing. Hilton was being kept in check
by Valenson, who was able to gain ground
until a bad run through the whoops brought
his run to a temporary halt.
At midway, the race was still up for grabs,
with positions two through six all separated by
one or two bike lengths. in third, Newhall was
looking wild and ready to sample some fine
red clay at any moment. yet he was gaining
ground on Valenson. An intense battle for
fourth between Furton and Fields was shaping
up. Crossing the finish line with one lap to go,
they were side by side, but Fields was edged
out. Fields then attempted to force a move to
the inside, creating a nice muffler scratch all
the way down Furton's plastic, but Fields
squirted past. Furton didn't have enough left
to repay the favor. Newhall pinned it through
the whoops after Valenson, but he dropped a
tire on the last one and had to settle for third.
The final running order was Hilton, Valenson,
Newhall, Fields and Furton.
Hilton Checks Out
Monster Mountain Motocross: The battle between Joey Hargrove (228) and Darryl
Heisler (506) kept the crowd on its feet during the 250cc A contest in Tallassee, Alabama.
be. When the gate dropped, Hargrove took off.
Heisler was relegated to fifth after a bad start.
With Hargrove out front, Heisler put his head
down and tried to overtake the leaders, but he
could only manage to move up into third. Hargrove took the win and the overaU, followed
by Davy Duprel, Heisler, Honda-mounted
Marc Rudolf, and James Morrison.
Duprel and Heisler met again in the Over
30 class, each taking a moto win. Duprel (2-1)
prevailed for the overall, over Heisler (1-2).
Several of the Amateur classes featured
epic battles. In the 125cc B class, a knockdown, drag-out battle took place between
Vamaha riders Eric Odom and Adam Rector.
Odom bested Rector both times out in truly
exciting race-long duels.
In 85cc action, two more Alabama hotshoes, Chase Borders and James Ragsdale,
met in both the Senior Mini and Supermini
classes. Borders prevailed in the Senior Mini
class. taking both moto wins; Ragsdale did
likewise in the Supermini class. Borders
seemed prepared to pass Ragsdale in the final
Supermini moto but ran off the track and lost
a couple of seconds, handing the win to Ragsdale. Following the pair home in third was
Suzuki-mounted Adam Bamett.
Yet another bam-burner took place in the
125cc C class, as Vl-mounted Shane Mills
faced off against archrival Dustin Gills. These
two had a bar-banger in moto one, with Gills
heading Mills until the last lap. when Mills
made his move, taking the lead at the finish.
In moto two, KTM rider lack Rossetti took the
win, followed by Mills and Clint Stagner, with
Gills in fourth. The overall went to Mills (1-2).
Rossetti also took the overall in the
Schoolboy class, easily winning both motos.

TAVLORVILLE, IL, OCT. 7
With constant track changes and Dealer Dollars, the South Fork Dirt Riders venue is fast
becoming one of the most popular tracks in
Illinois. With a vast riffing area and a superfast
track, this place truly has something for
everyone, and some great weather set up a
great day of racing.
The 125cc C class was the biggest class of
the day. In moto one, Rick Ivey took an easy
win. Nathan Wall took his Kawasaki to second, followed by Robert Jones. When they
lined up for mota two, first-moto winner Ivey
was unable to make the call. Wall took advantage of Ivey's absence and took the moto win.
Jones finished second for the mota and sec·
ond overall. SoCal/Decal rider Justin Pinckard
appeared to have third for the moto and third
overall in the bag, but on the last lap his Suzu-

SACRAMENTO, CA, OCT. 12
Billy Hilton began his last race ever in the
250cc Beginner class by taking the holeshot.
Close behind were Randy Valenson, Bucky
Gerolamy and lack Barrick. As the leaders
approached the first double, Gerolamy opted
to not double it and was immedjately passed
by three or four riders,
Valenson challenged Hilton for the lead,
showing Hilton a wheelan every corner and
pulling up beside him as the two launched
over the double-double. Valenson misjudged
the jump and slightly cased it. taking a nasty
get-off. Barrick took advantage of mistakes by
Gerolamy and Valenson to take command of
second. Clint Newhall was closing fast with an
out-of-control riding style and wearing a
T-shirt, jeans and work boots for riding gear.
Hilton was beginning to check out at this
point. but he almost threw it away by nosing
in short on a double. Hilton managed to keep
it rubber side down and roosted off. Valenson,
who had remounted about 14th, was making a
great comeback and was already up to sixth.
