The Koch family enjoyed a successful afternoon of racing in Cambridge, Minnesota. Paul
Koch, his son Josh, and his brother Dave each
brought home some first-place gold in their
respective classes. It all happened when the
Norseman Motorcycle Club played host to the
final District 23 dirt track race of the season.
Paul and Kelly Koch's son Josh got things
under way in the 80cc class, where it was
business as usual as he dashed to the front of
the pack at the start of the main event and on
to an uncontested victory. This time, Josh was
chased by a steadily Improving Jeremy
Anderson, who rode to a solid second-place
finish, ahead of Open Mini-class luminary
Jake Mataya. Third and fourth places were
awarded to a consistent pair of contenders Eddy Hampe and Jacob Schleicher.
Next up was the Over 40 class, in which
60-year·old Buzz Arndt has been a seasonlong dominating factor. As usual, Amdt was
seen out front early, being chased by Paul
Koch, Dave Koch and Harley-Davidson rider
Ron Leeman. On the opening lap, however,
Arndt made D fare miscue when his Retax hit
a false neutral in the comer leading toward
Langland Gulch. Arndt did a good job of
remaining upright. but the damage was done
and the entire field slid by. Paul was chased
closely by his older brother Dave all the way
to the checkered flag, but he held on for the
