Clinton By DAVID ELLER BLOUNTVILLE, TN, SEPT. 8-9 Thor Racewear Fall Motofest IMS Pro Series/Carolina Ultra Series Round 10: Muddy Creek Raceway Neel, Walker Hammer 'em at Thor Walker and Boruff shared the holeshot, but Boruff went down in the second turn. This left Walker and Neel to fight for the lead, which Neel took at one point - which gave Walker a wake-up call, and he began to wick it up and put a little distance between himself and Nee/. A surprise runner was third-placed Nick Vargo of Lancaster, South Carolina; this was his first Pro race, and he was on a borrowed bike. Performance Honda's Troy Crisp was next, followed by Justice and McGourty. Justice and Crisp went down on lap three, giving McGourty fourth. Billy Liles, making a rare appearance in the 250cc class, crashed hard on the back stretch. Fink was now in the top five, watching as McGourty passed Vargo. The first two, Walker and Neel, were gone, and Vargo was running out of steam as Fink closed in. Walker took the win, with Neel, McGourty, Vargo and Fink in tow. Moto two featured a Devin Banks holeshot, followed by Boruff. Walker hit the ground but remounted in i?ack. Boruff soon took the lead, but Neel could smell the overall; he took the lead from Boruff on lap three. Justice was third. Walker had moved up to Justice's rear fender and with only half a lap to go he made the pass for third, but time ran out and Neel's 2-1 gave him his first-ever overall Pro win at Muddy Creek. In the first Schoolboy moto, Jeremy Allison made a pass with half a lap to go to take the win over Hutch Lee. However, Lee returned to lead the second moto from the start, with Travis Flowers and Allison on his tai/. Allison moved into second. Casey Johnson and Chris Todd were trading fifth, with Johnson eventually coming out on top. Jonathan Williams moved up to third. At halfway, Lee was still leading, with Allison creeping up to within a second. The top two pulled away. On the white-flag lap, Allison M uddy Creek Raceway. nestled in the Tennessee hills, became home to Thor's Fall Motofest, which was also round 10 of the IMS Pro Series/Carolina Ultra Series. With a guaranteed purse of $10,000 in the Pro classes and perfect weather conditions, the rider turnout was over 700. Yamaha/Pro-Action/Ballzee/ Scott/Sinasalo's Kevin Walker and Jim's Honda/EVS/Maxima/Bridgestone/Pro Circuit's Hans Neel enjoyed great afternoons, as they both scored overall victories in the Pro classes. In the first 125cc Pro moto, class newcomer Donnie McGourty wasn't easily intimidated, as he nearly pulled the holeshot over Walker, but as they began to settle in, it was Walker and Yamaha/Capitol Cycle/Fox's McGourty in front, followed by Kingsport Suzuki's Jon Boruff and Florida's Jason Fink. As the front two were pushing each other, a gap began to grow between them and Boruff, who was now all alone in third. Behind him, Neel was pressing Fink. On the last lap, Neel went to make a move but clipped the triple going toward the finish line, breaking his momentum. Walker t09k the win, followed by McGourty, Boruff, Fink and Nee/. In moto two, again Walker snared the holeshot, followed by Boruff, DalKaw Center's Paul Justice, McGourty and Nee/. Justice passed Boruff on the second lap. McGourty couldn't find a clean line until lap three, when he made his move behind the starting gate and then set his sights on Justice. Meanwhile, Walker was pulling away. McGourty caught and passed Justice on the last lap by using a different jump rhythm through the whoops, but Justice continued to show McGourty a wheel all the way to the checkers. Walker was awarded the win and the overall, followed by McGourty, Justice, Boruff and Nee/. The 250cc action also had its share of surprises. In moto one, 72 OCTOBER 24, 2001 • cue I e n e _ s jumped through the whoop section to make the pass and take the win. Allison was not so lucky in 125cc C action, as he won the first moto but found himself playing catch-up in moto two after a first-turn crash. By lap three, be had moved up to ninth in the 43-rider field, but he crashed hard as he mistimed a high-speed rhythm section, handing the win and the overall to Jonathan Camp of Florida. Among the double-class winners were local rider Matt Blevins, who scored wins in the 250cc Band Unlimited Amateur classes, and Liles, who won the Over 30 A and Over 35 divisions. SANDERSON District 6Points Race Hurricane Hills Sports Center Schneck, McPhee Handle the Hills CUFFORD,PA,SEPT.9 M other Nature provided an absolutely beautiful late-summer day. of sunshine and blue skies for a District 6 points race at the Hurricane Hills Sports Center. Hosted by Tom Hurd MotorSports, the event provided a great day of motocross racing on the expertly prepared and technically demanding Hurricane Hills racecourse. Michael Schneck of Pine Grove, Pennsylvania, topped the 250cc Open B-class podium, riding to a perfect 1-1 tally. Vance Draghi from Mount Joy, New Jersey, earned second overall with consistent 2-2 rides, while Jamie Dineen of Burlington, North Carolina, rounded out the podium with his 4-3 score. Nicholas McPhee of Milford, New Jersey, topped the 65cc (7-9) podium, riding to a perfect I-Ion the day. The runner-up spot went to Tony Pere- grin of Simpson, Pennsylvania, via his consistent 2-2 tally, and Jesse Kuzbyt from Sussex, New Jersey, rounded out the podium via his 4-3 score. Draghi got the first 250cc Open B moto under way by taking the holeshot, ahead of Dineen, Joseph Savitsky, Schneck and Ryan James. It didn't take Schneck long to make his way to the front, as he made two quick passes to move into second before the start of lap two. Just a few turns into the lap, Schneck made the pass on Draghi for the lead. The top-five running order was now Schneck, Draghi, Savitsky, Dineen and James. On lap three, the top two were pulling away, while Dineen passed Savitsky for third. SaVitsky dropped to fourth and James was hanging tough in fifth. The top five started to spread out and remained unchanged until the last lap. The first moto went in the record books as Schneck, Draghi, James,
