Thor/Parts Unlimited Northeast Classic Motocross Series Round 7: Doublin Gap Motocross Park Ie'" STORY AND PHOTOS BY JIM P. SANDERSON SIIIPPENSBORG,PA,AOG.12 , ust under 500 of the Northeast's best motocross riders came out for the final round of the Thor/Parts Unlimited Northeast Classic Series. Round seven, hosted by the Yentzer family at Doublin Gap Motocross Park, featured both factory and product contingencies for the top riders. Rider turnout was a little shy for round seven, considering most of the best riders from the Northeast were in Tennessee for the Loretta Lynn's Amateur National Championships, which wrapped up a week's worth of racing the day prior to the Northeast Classic. Still, riders who were leading their respective classes in series points drove all night just to race the fmal round. Ryan Mills, who finished third in the Schoolboy class at Loretta's, made the long drive to ensure his winning the Schoolboy class - which he did, and he made it look easy. Paul Veracka won the 250cc Open Expert class. Dave Ginolfi, who only needed to finish ninth overall to win the 125cc Expert class, did a little better than that, finishing fifth overall to win the series and the big bucks that come with it. In the Senior division, Gene Nighman also made the long trip back from Tennessee with his son Sonny to keep his commanding lead in the series points and win the class series overall. Ginolfi, who came into round seven with a 10-point advantage over Veracka in the 125cc A class, nailed the holeshot in the first moto. Stull took the early lead in the second moto, trailed by Veracka, Ginolfi, Wallace and Crine. Veracka quickly relegated Stull to second. Ginolfi again had some problems with an infield corner, which allowed Wallace and Crine to take third and fourth. On lap two, Veracka wasn't able to get the drive he needed out of a corner to clear the big double, allowing Stull to regain the lead. Veracka dropped to second. Crine then went down hard; it took him a while to remount, which allowed Wallace, Ginolfi and Jeremy Cook to move up to third, fourth and fifth, respectively. Crine eventually remounted 10th. Stull pulled a 4 l/2-second lead over Veracka by the start of lap three. Wallace caught Veracka and made the pass for second in the turns before the big camelback jump that follows the finish line. Cook was now up to fourth, with Paul's brother Mike Veracka now in fifth. Stull hung on for the second-moto win, followed by Wallace, Paul Veracka, Cook and Mike Veracka. Stull's 2-1 rides earned him the overall. Wallace (1-2) got second, and Paul Veracka (4-3) rounded out the podium. Gaylon Dickson, who came into round seven second in series points in the Over 25 A class, led the pack out of the first tum in the first moto. In tow were Greg Kreinbrook, Wallace, John Bowlin and Neal Knaub. Stephen Desiderio, who led the class in series points coming into round seven, went down in the first turn and remounted dead last. Dickson still had the point position at the start of lap two. Wallace passed Kreinbrook for second. Rounding out the top five were Bowlin and then Crine, who also got tangled up in the first turn but was already up into the top five and charging. On lap three, Crine passed Bowlin in the infield for fourth and then went after Kreinbrook. Meanwhile, up front, Wallace began applying pressure on Dickson for the lead but couldn't make a pass stick. Crine got around Kreinbrook by the start of lap four and closed the gap on the leaders.
