Povolny took the overall 250cc A win, but the first moto was a "slobberknocker" indeed. Young up-and-comer Nate Broughton had his will tested in the race, and he held up under the pressure of having AMA National number 37 right behind him lap after lap. Broughton kept his MSR/FMF/Pro Action/EVS/Maximabacked CR250 in front of Povolny and some other National-level Pros all the way to the checkers, and it appeared as though Broughton was ready to go to the upcoming Loretta Lynn's Nationals. Unfortunately, Broughton broke his foot later in the day, ending his hopes of doing well at Loretta Lynn's. Povolny took second in the moto, with Kann third, Lee Theis (who appears to be stepping up) fourth, and Pro snowcrosser Trevor John rounding out the top five. Moto two went to Povolny. and he claimed the overall, with Theis second, Brent Stevenson third after a firstMmoto seventh, Bruce Gates fourth after a first-moto ninth, and Billy Edmonson finjshing out the top five. Kann fin· ished a ways back in eighth place, and John slipped back to 10th. Results 50 3·SPD: 1. John Tal~: 2. Luclls Hegne. Fun Mover is a cargo van - motorhome combination meeting all your needs! SOBER Address SACRAMENTO, CA, JULY 28 Former Junior US National Speedway Champion Eric "The Coyote" Carrillo turned a page in his young speedway career when he won his first Scratch main event at the Sideways Saturdays Cal-Expo Speedway venue. Carrillo, who became the first racer all season to win from the outside gate-four starting position, received rare praise from fellow racer and veteran Speedway champion Bart Bast. ."Anybody that could win on this track from gate four deserves it, said Bast, the reigning Cal-Expo track champion. Bast started the night's final race from gate two, sandwiched between Chad Felicio on the inside and Tommy Hedden in lane three.
