i~ ~ Date I~ Time I : SEPTEMBER 2001 BROADCASTS The one rider who wa5 able to stay in touch with Leivan was Hemann. Staying within sight, Hemann was able to take over the lead when Leivan washed out the front end in a slippery turn. Hemann was a bit surprised but more than happy to lead for a few miles. Leivan hounded Hemann through the single-track section and was able to force a mistake and retake the lead near the end of the third lap. When the two riders hit pit row, Hemann stopped for fuel, and Leivan knew it was time to make a break. "I looked back after the check and couldn't see anyone, so I charged really hard for half a lap, then put it on cruise," Leivan explained. "/'(Iy bike was working so good that all I had to do was ..teer it in the right direction. " While the race for the win was effectively over at that point, Busenbark was on the move. After spending the first three laps in fifth place, the YZ400F pilot charged past Shaw, early leader Wuebbeling (who was fighting a flat tire). and a fading Hemann to move into second during lap four. Busenbark's' last two laps were nearly identical to those of Leivan, and had he gotten through traffic quicker early on, the race might have been a barn-burner. Shaw put in a solid ride for third after moving around Hemann on the final lap to complete a Yamaha sweep. Hemann hung on for fourth, while Nesbitt got around Wuebbeling to round out the top five. eN Missouri Hare Scrambles Series Tebbetts, Missouri Results: July 29, 2UUl [Round 91 O/A: 1. Rollercoaster Racing Tour Supercross Series Round 8: Shelby Supercross Ryan Tryin' BY BARBARA WILLIAMS SHELBY, NC, J(JlY 28 un Cycles/Billy Ules MX School's Jonathan Ryan of Morganton, North Carolina, is experiencing growth in two ways this year: physically and skillwise. Ryan "just rode" in the 250cc C contest at the Shelby Supercross and then romped off with the win in Senior Mini Division Two. Say again? "He's really outgrown his RM80," explained Ryan's dad, John. "So we borrow a 250cc Honda to get him used to a bigger bike. Right now, if he crashes on the 250, he has a hard time picking it up, but if he can stay going, he can do pretty well. Last week, he took second at another outlaw track, so we thought we'd come here to see how he'll do. Hope his 250cc c1a5s comes before the Mini, because he seems to be faster on the 80 if he rides the 250 first." It had rained all week at Shelby, and the threat of more rain kept some riders away from round eight of the Rollercoaster Racing Tour, but the entry tally was still almost 350. Double divisions were needed in 80cc D, F Senior Mini and 125cc D, and most other classes had full gates. While the forecast deluge didn't happen, a persistent drizzle started about a third of the way through the main program and hung around like postnasal drip, making the clay track slick and treacherous for some classes. Ryan got his wish about the moto order, as his 250cc C class indeed came ahead of the Senior Mini contest. Even though Ryan struggled with Sam Reece's CR250 Honda, the experience appeared to work as planned in Senior Mini. Ryan came out of the box first in both the qualifier and the main event in Senior Mini Division Two and made eight perfect laps to take an easy-looking win over fast and feisty Justin Hopson, Dustin Kimbrell, Chhasity Man and Billy McClung. Reece took his turn on the Honda, locking up a solid third-place finish in Over 35's field of 10 codgers, following AI Lane Yamaha's David Shugart of Newton, North Carolina, and Mark Parkerson of Mooresville, North Carolina. The top five in Over 35 were filled out by Michael Nyland and Tim Moose, with Roy Clarkson coming home sixth. 09101/01 09101101 09101/01 09/01/01 09101/01 09101/01 09/01/01 09/02101 09/02/01 09/02/01 09/02/01 09102/01 09/02/01 09/04/01 09/04/01 09/04/01 09/04101 09/04/01 09/04/01 09/04101 09/04/01 09/04101 09/04101 09/04/01 09/04/01 09/04/01 09/04/01 09/04/01 09/04/01 09/04101 09/05/01 09/05/01 09/05101 09/05/01 09/05101 09/05/01 09/05101 09/06101 09/06101 09/07101 09107/01 09/08101 09/08101 09/08101 09/08101 09/08101 09/08101 09109/01 09109/01 09109/01 09109/01 09/09/01 09/09/01 09/09/01 09109/01 09/11/01 09/11/01 09/11101 09/11101 09/11101 09/11101 09/11/01 09/11/01 09/11/01 09/11/01 09/11/01 09/11/01 09/11/01 09/11/01 09/11/01 09/11/01 09/11/01 09/12/01 09/12/01 09/12/01 09/12/01 09/12/01 09/12/01 09/12/01 09/13/01 09/13/01 09/13/01 09/13/01 09/13/01 09/14101 09/15/01 09/15/01 09/15/01 09/15/01 09/15/01 09/16/01 09/16/01 09/16/01 1:00AM 5:30AM 9:00AM 9:30AM 10:00 AM 11:00AM 7:00 PM 12:00 AM 1:00AM 7:00AM 12:00 PM 8:00 PM 9:00PM 12:00 AM 1:00AM 2:00AM 3:00AM 12:00 PM 1:00 PM 2:00 PM 3:00 PM 5:30 PM 6:00 PM 7:00 PM 7:30 PM 8:00 PM 9:00 PM 10:00 PM 11:00 PM 11:30 PM 7:00AM 7:30AM 8:00AM 8:30AM 11:00AM 5:00 PM 5:30PM 7:00PM 11:00 PM 2:30AM 2:00PM 1:00AM 9:00AM 9:30AM 10:00 AM 3:00PM 7:00 PM 12:00 AM 1:00AM 3:00AM 7:00AM 2:30 PM 8:00 PM 9:00PM 10:00 PM 12:00 AM 1:00AM 2:00AM 3:00AM 12:00 PM 1:00 PM 2:00 PM 3:00 PM 5:30 PM 6:00 PM 7:00 PM 7:30PM 8:00 PM 9:00PM 10:00 PM 11:00 PM 11:30 PM 7:00AM 7:30AM 8:00AM 8:30AM 11:00AM 5:00PM 5:30PM 3:00AM 5:00AM 10:00 AM 7:00 PM 11:00 PM 2:00 PM 1:00AM 9:00AM 9:30AM 10:00 AM 7:00PM 7:00AM 3:00PM 5:00 PM Nerwork Event Motorcyclist - Dave Despain, host MotoWor1d (R) High Octane - Gregg Godfrey, host Bike Week - Dave Despain, host SBK 2001 - Weektof Magazine AMA GNCC 5efies (Show '13) ATVs Motorcyclist - Dave Despain, host FIM Wor1d Superbike • Germany - Race FIM Wor1d Superbike • Germany - Race Motorcyclist - Dave Despain, host AMA GNCC Series (Show '13) ATVs FIM Wor1d Superbike - Germany· Race FIM Wor1d Superbike - Germany - Race AMA Formula Xtreme - Pikes Peak FIM Wor1d Superbike - Germany· Race US FIa1 Track C'ship • Peoria High OCtane • Gregg Godfrey, host AMA 600 Supersport - Pikes Peak FI M Wor1d Superbike - Germany - Race FIM Wor1d Superbike - Germany - Race FIM WOf1d GP 125 - Germany 1 2 1 (SOD) 2 (SOD) 2 1 2 MotoWo~d High Octane - Gregg Godfrey, host Bike Week· Dave Despein, host American Thunder • Beve~y Hills Charily Bike Show AMA Formula Xtreme • Pikes Peak FIM Wo~d Superbike - Germany - Race 2 US Flat Track C'ship - Peoria Bike Week - Dave Despain, host • American Thunder • Beve~y Hills Charily Bike Show Motorcyclist· Dave Despain, host Bike Week· Dave Despain, host American Thunder· BevMy Hills Charily Bike Show High Octane - Gregg Godfrey, host AMA GNCC Series (Show '14) Bikes Bike Week· Dave Despain, host American Thunder - BevMy Hills Charily Bike Show SBK 2001 - Osche
