Los Angeles County Raceway Elliott Earns Two at LACR By GREG ROBERTSON PALMDALE, CA, JULY 7 Yamaha-mounted Matt Elliott went three for four to win both the 80cc (12-13) and Supermini classes at Los Angeles County Raceway rim during the Nationwide Cycle-sponsored round of California Racing Club's Saturday night motocross. Tye Hames put his KX into the point position right off the start in moto one, only to go down on the opening lap and have to make a charge from eighth place. Elliott inherited the lead, just ahead of Garrett Norr, Kyle Griffith and Casey Logan. Norr was a couple of sec· onds off Elliott's pace early in the race, but by the midway point he was knocking on the back door. Elliott hung tough to take the first-moto win over a persistent NOIT. Hames put in a great ride to end up third, ahead of Logan and Griffith. Sean Kranyak's secondmoto lead was short·lived, as Elliott and Hames dropped him to third place within a lap. Hames slowly chipped away at Elliott's lead, finally making the pass. Hames saw the checkers first, but it was the 1-2 score of Elliott that collected the tallest trophy. NOTT went 2·5 for third over· all, behind Hames, with Sterling Zepeda (6-3) and Griffith (5-4) rounding out the top five finishers. Elliott returned to post a perfect 1-1 score on his Dwayne Jones/Montclair Yamaha/PJ 1/ Axo-backed Los Angeles County Raceway: Matt Elliott won both the YZ80 for the Supermini8Gec (12-13) and Supermini classes during the Nationwide class overall honors.
