round 01 the CMC Pac West
Nationals.

at the Yakima Motorsports
Complex.

and Before The Hill
Intennediate classes at the
series finale in Yakima,
Washington, Tyler Flck also
earned overall series titles In
both classes.
YAKIMA, WA, JULY 15
daho's Chaun McAlister and Washington's Dan Moore spent much of
the eight-round CMC Pac West
Nationals in close quarters. At the
series' finale, it was much the same
story: McAlister edged Moore in the
125cc and 250cc Pro classes to snare
a pair of Professional-class wins at
Yakima; Moore returned the favor by
picking up overall wins in the Vet
Over 25 and Over 30 classes to even
the score. In the end, however, Moore
had the final say, posting series titles
in all four classes.
One of the closest battles of the
series was waged in the 250cc Pro
class. Moore and McAlister traded
leads throughout the first moto - as
many as six times during a single lap with the outcome in favor of the
Beaudry Motorsports/Motion Sportsbacked McAlister. National number 95,
Billy Binckley, worked up from a poor
start to enter the mix, finishing a close
third in the moto, followed by Eric
Waunch, J.R. Vielle and Todd Hinders.
In moto two, McAlister darted out
in front of the pack. and the Suzuki
rider from Coeur d'Alene remained in
the position to the finish, which was
good for an overall win. Moore came
from fourth on the next-to-Iast lap to
overtake Waunch late in the moto,
but the Tuning By Travis/Arai/Onebacked Moore couldn't get around
the Yamaha-mounted Binckley, who
held a lock on the second-place spot.
Binckley (3-2) carded one of his best
performances of the series for second
overall, ahead of Moore (2-3).
Waunch (4-4) and Hinders (6-5).
85cc (12-13) classes. Tony Boughten, the dominant rider at round
seven, trailed the Kawasaki-mounted
DeAtley in both Supermini motos to
snare second overall, followed by
Kevin Urquhart. The 85cc age-group
classes ran concurrently, with DeAtley winning the 85cc (12-13) class,
Michael Schmeck winning the 85cc
(7 - 11) class and Boughten winning
the 85cc (14-16) class.
Kawasaki jockey Ryan Abrigo and
Honda pilot Tyler Fick clinched series
titles with their impressive performances. Abrigo's 3-1 finishes earned
him the 250cc Intermediate-class
title, while Fick used a 2-1 tally to
take the top honors in the 125cc
Intermediate class.
Oregon's Brody Thom has been in
the top three for much of the series
in the Pee Wee (4-6) class. On this
day, the Cobra rider from Boring,
Oregon, stepped up his performance
by soundly thrashing the class with a
1-1 sweep. Trailing Thom were
Hunter Evanson and Cody Mecham.
Idaho's Tanner Mort, also a consistent placer in the series, used a 1- 1
tally to top the Pee Wee (7-8) class.
Vance Davis and Trent Jones were
second and third.

Moore, McAlister, Waunch, Garrhett Carter and Mitch Merritt
assumed the top five positions in the
first 125cc Pro moto. Moore was
pressured by McAlister throughout
the eight-lap moto but, unlike in the
250cc class, Moore won the battle for
supremacy. McAlister finished second, ahead of Carter, Oregon's Mike
Storm and Waunch.
Moto two was a different story.
Storm put his Honda in front of the
field, followed by McAlister and
Moore. McAlister took the lead from
SMP/Hillsboro Motorcycles-supported
Storm just past the midway point of
the moto, and the former National
number holder kept the point position
to the finish. Moore also displaced
Storm, but he couldn't narrow the
gap on his fellow RM rider. McAlister
won the overall via 2-1 placings,
while Moore (1-2) finished second.
Storm (4-3), Waunch (5-4) and
Carter (3-6) rounded out the top five
finishers overall.
Moore did come back to handily
top all four of the Vet Over 25 and
