Dav id Gino lfi topped the podium in th e ex t re mely competi ti ve 12 5 c c Expert class . Gino lfi finis hed th e first moto be hind Jame s Mc Ne ill , who smoked th e field of 17 rid e rs , taking th e c h e ck ers w it h a 14- sec o n d advan tage. Gino lfi d idn 't gate we ll and had to work his wa y through the pa c k to ev en tually finis h second . In the second moto, Ginolfi gated fou rth , taking the lead and the second-moto win ahead of McNeill , who had to work his wa y up to finish the moto in second . To m Bur ton ro u nded t he s witc h ba c k first tum in th e lead of the first 12 5cc E xp e rt mo t o , w it h Mik e Finnerty, Ryan O 'Malley, McNeill and Scott Roc kwell tra iling. With threequarters of a lap co m pleted, Burton and F innert y rem a in ed ou t front. McNe ill passe d O 'Ma lle y for t hi rd . Rockwell was fifth. Bu rton was still ou t front at t he st art of la p two . McNeil moved up to second , O 'Ma lle y was t hi rd , Willie Bozack was fourth an d Rockwell was st ill fifth. At th is po int , the top three were unchanged . Finn erty moved up to fourth , dropp ing Bozac k to fifth . Just before the huge sk i jum p , Ginolfi pa ssed Bozack to m ov e into the top five. McNeill appea red at the to p of the Nationa l hill halfway through the second la p with the lead and qui ckl y pulled aw a y from Burton, now in sec ond. O 'Ma lley was th ird, Gino lfi wa s fourth and Finnerty fifth . At th e sta rt of la p three, McNeill's lead was nine seconds. Gino lfi caught and passed O 'Ma lle y for t hi r d . McNe ill c am e off the Nationa l h ill w ith a 12-second advantag e ov e r Ginolfi, who managed to pass Burton for second. McNe ill took the check ered flag with a huge 14 -second lead. Trailing h im we re G ino lfi, Burton , O 'Malley and Bozack. O'Ma lley led the pack out of the first t urn in the second moto , wit h M • Gino lfi had a s ix-sec ond lea d on la p two . McNeill made it up to second by t h e e n d of la p two . O 'M a ll e y dropped to th ird, while Roc kwe ll an d Burto n held fo urt h a nd fifth. Toward the e nd . of lap two, Mor in went down in t he t ree turns , all owin g Va lwa y t o move to th ird and Mowry to fourth. Mor in remounted in fifth . Just before the pack disappeared from view , O 'Mal ley and Fox we re the top two , Ginolfi ha d mov ed to th ird , Rockwe ll ha d dropped to fourth and Hunt was fifth. Gino lfi qu ickl y made two passes on the back side of the National hill and emerged in the po int position. O 'Malley and Fox were relegated to second and th ird . Rockwell wa s fou rth , and Burton moved up to fifth. . cue I EO bonneau caught Nighman and they bumped at the firs t t u rn. Nighman managed to hold Cha rbonneau off th at tim e, but he soon found himself releg a te d to s e c o nd on th e s u pe rc ross section. Charbonnea u to o k the first- mote win. Rounding ou t the top five were Nighman , Mowr y , Va lwa y and Morin. Fa us t got his Yamaha to the front of the pack in th e seco nd moto. Trailing hi m were Nig hman , Va lw ay, Jason Maraugha and Ma tt Rich e y. Nighman was in t he lea d when the pack emerged from the supercr os s section . Fa us t drop ped to second , Valway wa s th ird , Mowry m oved up to fourt h and Ma raugha drop ped to fifth. Nighman had a six -second lead by the start of la p two .
