(Above) Though he made It the farthest up the exhibition hili, The B ig Nasty's crest remained officially untouched by Beer and the rest of the field due to the steep face and deep silt. BOISE,10 JUNE \ 0 , efending number-one ride r Dusty Bee r notched his second Open Exh ibition ·class win of the season at The Big Nasty hillclimb just outside of Boise, ro u nd two of the FMF /North Ame rican Hillcl imbers Association (NAHA) Championship HillclirnbSeries. While The Big Nas ty was certainly steep, es pecially near its 4\ Ovfoot crest, the most difficu lt factor to cope with turned out to be its dry , silty makeup which was no surprise on a warm summer week en d in the hiqh -desert city. In addi tion , it also changed radically over the cou rs e of the afternoon , with deep ruts forming in the silt an d enough dirt moved to completely fill in the ga p of a road cut across the hill's face. Th ough Bee r set a rou nd -one standard o f 360 fe et on h is \428 c c Kawasaki, Yamaha FJ 1200-mounted Travis Whitlock's 340 feet kept him hopeful , especia lly considering he had ta ken the top spot in two other class es - 250cc Exhibition and Open Pro Altered . and was the only rider to top th e similarly cha llengi ng Pro Altered hill. Still, Beer felt fairly confident. "I didn 't know if any bo dy was going to beat me or not," Beer said, "but the way the hill was falling apa rt, I figured I'd be tte r run , because at JULY I I , 2001 • cu e • • llwyilee M-.:yde Clubgnluads BaiSll, ldaba Results: Jane 10, 2001 lIIausd 21 500 8 TK: I .
