Memor ia l Dun e s town Series , the Dunestown Grand Prix. Turn e r q uickly m a d e h is way to th e front of the Vet Novice field during th e opening lap o n a layout that enco m passed both the Saddle Gle n an d J.B . Memoria l tra c ks, along with a pavement se ct ion thrown in for fun. To ny Dis c uillo settled int o se con d , ahead o f Mya n S pacca re lli, Ra y Rit zier , Paul Hau c k a nd the re st of th e pa c k. With two-thirds of t he a llotted time gone , it wa s clea r th a t Turner wou ld take the win, b arring any unfo reseen mi shaps . T u rn e r worked his way up through the back ma rker Intermedi ate riders a nd took th e c heckers a h e ad of Hauc k . Patri c k was out front and st arting to pu ll away with onl y ha lf a lap compl et ed . Mitch ell Alsobrook and C as ey Whit e ho oked up and came up th rough traffic to run third and fourth , re sp e ctivel y , behind O 'Neal by lap thre e . Patric k settled into a comforta ble pa ce on his Riders ' Ch oice / Wis e c o / N - S t y le b a c ke d RM125 that saw him run the second ha lf of the race with a 10 -second lead that he maintained until t he checkers fe ll. After nearly 30 m inutes of ra c ing, White managed to sl ip past O 'Neal for the sec ond-place trophy . Tim McDanie l slowly wo rked his wa y u p from a mid pa ck start to earn fo ur t h, over T yle r Gunn and Sendelbach. Neilsen m ade his way into the lead on the o pe ning lap and just walked aw ay fro m hi s co m petitors while passing ha lf of the faster Vet Novic e class fro m the previous ga te in the process. Nick Santa na earned second a fter hold ing down that position for the e ntire race . Third went to Joe Su tt er aft er a start just ins ide the to p 10 . Es au Orden es he ld off Wade Run e st a d for fourt h a t the checkers . To d d Anders led the first few laps o f th e Vet Interm ediate class u ntil problems left h im with a DNF. Don n Ma eda inh e rited the lea d on his al u minum -framed CR500 but wa s qu ic kly passed by St ev e Cole. Maeda stuc k with Co le a n d was soon jo ined b y Randy Wilkins , ma king it a thre e- ride r battl e o ver the lead . Ma eda retoo k co ntro l of the top spot for a whi le, but n e UV s with time running o ut Wilki ns m ad e th e pass for the win. Dav id Ant illion n ipped Cole in the clos ing la p s for th ird , with Shane Leyd en rounding ou t the top five . In 250cc Be g inn e r action , Ke n ny Kopecky held the lead for just over a lap before J eff McClure and Curtis S haw dropped him a cou p le of positions. McClure easily pulled away from Shaw an d the ot hers for a commanding win . Kopecky he ld on to finish third , behind Shaw.
