On the third lap, he saw Aaron Dav is creepi ng up from the rear, so he took off and came in 16th overa ll. Beginner rid er Michael Gandy won on hi s KDX200. After enter ing th e wo od s in second place, he moved up a m il e and a half. Du rin g th e first lap. he h it a tree and slid down a steep em bankment. While watch ing several ri ders go by , he decided to dig a little deeper. and he reached for the front . He won the victory in three laps. Promoter Paul Allen la id out a t i ght . technical course . It was fu ll y equipped to m eet the needs of both exp erienced and novice riders . It included a Hazzard Hill for the A and B riders , and a Wussy Hill for the novice ri d ers. He made it five miles long. and m ost rid ers m ade five laps in an hour and a ha lf. Jerry and Trish Ketchum. promoters of the kids ' race. had 16 riders in three div isions. The draw for the Scratch main had Manchester on the pole , with Schwartz in two and Hick s in three. On the outside were Faria and Larsen. On the 40 were Ryan Fisher, McConnell , Castro and DiFrancesco. Hicks , Larsen and Manchester lo aded in on the 50 . In the first attempt at a go , McConne ll , Hick s and Fis her tan gl ed in turn one . M cConnell was ch arged for the red and sent to the penalty line. On t he second try . Hicks, Fisher an d Larsen got up cl ose and person al . and thi s ti m e the ref sent Larsen to th e pena lty li ne . The th ird time was the charm . and it was the Castro sho w. Castro went to work ri ding th e outside line fo r all it was worth , and by the en d of ei ght laps he had the cr owd ch eering. fisher and Hicks knock ed handleb ars all the way , but it was Fisher at the end . Ma nc hester pulled int o the infield on th e fi fth la p . and t w o laps l a t e r McConnell joined him. DiFrancesco and La rsen had the ir own small wa r going on . and DiFrancesco came out on top in that one . The Den im Doctor Challenge p itted five of t h e b e st ag a inst each other. Skyle r Greyso n took the Ju nior Speedw ay win . over Ricky Wells and then Justin Boyle, wh o did a great job of getting to th e fro nt after p romot er Brad Ox ley put him back on th e 40.
