After the restart, Lipert, back from th e bad first race, had the point, w ith Richa rd Lu cas right on his wet heels. Lipert and Luc as swa p pe d p o sition s sev eral ti mes through lap six , but by lap seven Roper, after st art ing behind th em in th e Vintage On e cla ss on th e 35 0cc M atch le ss , had ca u g h t and p assed them both . A s Rop er pulled away , Lipert tried to kee p pac e. T hey weren't racing in the same class , but Lipert wanted the overa ll w in . That ambition eventua lly cost him , as he stuck a piston o n his RD4 00 on the las t lap. Rope r eas ily won Vin tage One over Greg Potter and T ho m as Turnbu ll. Richard Lucas took the Formula 500 win , with Gene Lucas second and Samara Talkin th ird. In the Middleweight C lassic portion , Kelle h er grabbed his second win of the day , over Giannin i teammate Bucky Sexton and Crockett Racing's Steven Mahanes. Roper continu ed to find his fast lines in ra ce three , as he not on ly won Vintage Two bu t beat everyo ne in th e concurrent F ormul a Two -Stroke and Vintage Fou r d iv ision s by half a lap.
