,. .:.,~ out a very fast course . which was a bit dusty in most places - a big change from the first thre e races of the sea son. There were a few mu dd y spots left over from the unusu ally high rainfall so far this yea r, but most were easil y avoided - except for those riders who just ca n't pick a good line no matter what. There were plenty of opportunities for passing and several straig htaways that allowed for a few seconds of high -gear speed. The sta rt was just before a se ction of several straightaways and allowed for t he cla ss e s to ge t spread o ut before gelling all bun ch ed up in the wood s se ct ions . All in all, it was a great co urse and lots of fun . Came ron Ishm ael wo n the Pee Wee BOcc Expe rt divi sio n. Runn er-up Lloyd Ram se y really enjoyed the race , and felt that the Pee Wee track was difficult but fun. He didn 't like the mud, bu t he did lo ve th e stra ightaways where he could get up to s peed. Ramsey started off the race in third place but moved into second pla ce on the second lap . He stay ed there for the rest of the race , coming in close behi nd winner Ishmae l and tra iled by Devon Coetzer in third , Ratapo l Waitayangkoo n in fourth and Brya n Vaughn in fifth. "I rode a lap on Sa turday an d immed iately knew tha t. barring a ny ra in, I was fina lly going to race ," sa id newcomer Steve McCun n. "Well. Sund ay morning ca me and I began to have so me se rious dou bts . I was so scared a nd ne rvo us that I almost became sic k to my stoma chl But I mustered up and got to the starting line and wa ited for my cla ss [Over 50 Amate ur) . Finally , after watch ing a ll the ot her classes but one leave. the flag came up and we were off." Desp ite breaking his camelbak a nd therefore having no water for most of the race. he finished with sty le and is ready to go aga in! "It's hard to des cribe the e u pho ria -like feeling of the ride itself a nd the se lf-satisfac tion of actually completing it," McCunn said. "Now I know why my son loves to race."
