At the end of the first la p, Toye was caugh t and passed by a charg ing Gobert , who had sta rted I Oth on the grid on his Dunlop -shod Yamaha YZF-R l. Gobert s et his s igh ts on Haskove c , looking for any wa y to get past him . He found his chan ce on la p three, when Gobert ro c keted into second on th e back s traigh t. Wh e n Haskovec came down the fro nt straight to start the nex t lap , his mot o rcyc le was cl e a r ly no t r u n ni n g we ll , and Has kove c contin ued to lose ground for the ne xt few laps . Graves m an aged to hold off Gobert's c ha lle nges for the next few la ps, but in th e fast turn- e ight sw e epe r on lap s ix, Gob ert m an a ged to s lip pa st Gra ves a nd take over the lea d . At the sam e time, T o ye caug ht Ha s k o ve c and m ove d into third , a nd Ha s kove c pu lle d out of the race with his ailing motorcycle. At the completion of th e 12-lap race, Gobert crossed th e line with the win , followed by Graves in second and Toye third· his first pod ium finish in a WSMC Formula One rac e. "I was having a grea t tim e today, and my hat's off to Aaron o n his ride," said Graves on the victory sta nd. "It was a good show," Gobert said . "I've got a good setu p o n th e b ik e right now. I was pretty nervous , as this was my first Fo rmu la One race, but, a ll in all, it worked o ut we ll," In t he Hyp e rclub/ WSMC Fo rmul a Two Grand Prix, Phil Her rin s hot into th e lead off the line , with Gra ve s and Ha s k o ve c just be h in d him . Her r in held on to th e lead unti l th e fast turn eight swe eper o n lap o ne, when he wa s p a s s e d by bot h G ra v e s and Ha s k o ve c . In t he same t urn a la p later , Graves came under pressure from Haskovec , who powered ar ound his outside to take over the lead. At th e same time , Jacob West caught Herrin and took over third. Mark Palazzo made his p re s e n c e known near the end of lap three in the ID-Iap event when he closed up on West in turn eight and then drafted and passed him down the front stra ight. West used the same ta ctic a lap later when he drafted and passed Palazzo going into turn one. The battle between Pa lazzo and West allowed them to close the gap on Graves in second. At the e nd of lap six, they were close e nough to ch all en g e G ra ve s , and a s lap eight got started , Palazzo did ju st that when he d rafte d a nd passed West o n the fron t straight and then close d up a nd p a s s ed Gr av e s down the ba ck stra ight. How e ver, a few turns la te r, Graves m oved ba c k into second. As the ra cers started th e fin al lap , Gra ves , Palazzo and West were s ide by side down the front straight.
