Gunn had McD an iel in his scope and finally made a bid for the lead at the 30 minute mark of the 45 -minute race . McDaniel wasn't gi ving up eas ily, and he stu c k with Gunn for a wh ile before Gunn p ulled awa y s lig htly for the hard-fought victory. O 'Neal c ros sed the li ne a fa irly close th ird on his KTM, followed by Figueroa and Patric k. Kenny Kopecky got the jump on the rest of the 250cc Beginner cl ass and ran ou t front for nearly a lap before Mike Kuligowsk i and Roman Barrozo d ropped him to th ird place. Kuligowski overtook Barrozo for th e le ad , only to go d own a sho rt time la te r. At one point, Barra za had a 20 -seco nd lead o ver Leo na rd El we ll , w ho was makin g h i s w ay towa rd the front afte r a last-pl ace sta rt. Elwe ll eventually ca ug ht Ba rrozo an d literally stuffed his way into the lead with 30 minutes of the ra ce co m ple ted. Elwell q uick ly pulled aw ay fro m Ba rroz o, but a bobble on th e part of Elwell with time running out hand ed the lead and th e win - to Ba rraz o .
