Ramage has looked very fast since hi s return bu t, try as he might in all 16 laps of the two motos, he cou ld not catch his youthful foe, though he sti ll recorded a win in the Vet Intermediate class. For Bootsrna . it was a narrow esc ape from defeat . He was railing alo ng ni cely in th e first 125cc & ginner rnoto; trail ing Honda -m ounted Junior rider J eff Loo p but leading his Beg in ner class in second overall on his Kawasaki, when he suddenly too k a spill all by hi mse lf after th e whoops before th e fourth lap was fini shed and re-entered the rac e in sixth place. By the time Suzuki jockey Travis Hawkin s too k the moto wi n, wi th Yamaha -mounted Michael Wa rd placing seco nd , Bootsma had worked his way back up to fourth. Ward took the early advantage in the second m oto , with Bootsma second, wh ile Loop was sti ll lead ing all until he crashed ba ck to fourt h late in the moto. Wa rd then moved into th e overall lead but was being pushed hard by B ootsma , wh o took t he top spot w hen t he w hite flag ap pea re d an d hel d it.
