Following an uncharacteristic third-place

man on the move was Vincent Gonzales, who
mounted a charge from deep in the pack. By
the checkers, Gonzales had worked his way
up to fourth. Meanwhile, up front, MiUer and
Utterback jousted for the lead. On the last lap,
it appeared as if Miller had the victory in hand,
but with two turns to go, UtterbacK reclaimed

Miller and Utterback lined up to settle the
score for the averaU. Miller was on his game,
and he assumed the lead early in the race.
Unfortunately for Utterback, a miscue resulted
in him running in the back of the pack and finishing a disappointing 24th. Miller checked
out, securing the overall via a 2-1 taUy on the
day. Meanwhile, Gonzales fared much better
at the start of moto two, and he used his better
start to his advantage, finishing behind Miller
for second overall. Locking up the fmal piece

showing in the season opener, Clay HoensheJi
once again took first place. Hoenshell finished
three minutes ahead of the second-placed Pro
racer, Haydn Franklin. It was 65 minutes later
when the last rider from the Sunday aftemoon
race rode in. In the meantime, racers were
trekking up to the scoring tables, looking for
help in getting their bike pulled out of the mud
or for a little bit of gas to make it the last bit of
the 48-mile race.

that he loved the track, especially the long,
winding straightaway just before the back

In the Ladies and Minis race, Susie Ishmael
won the new Ladies Over 35 Amateur class,
closely followed by Rose Beunier and Soraya
Morrison. Ishmael shared the spotlight with

Ashley Crouch is the only girl in the Pee Wee
50cc Intennediate class. She finished the race
on her KTM JR on the same minute as the
only two boys who somehow managed to stay
ahead of her, Cory Kuehnhold and Michael
Lamon.
Another up-and-coming Pee Wee racer is
Tyler Fipps, who was competing in only his
second TCCRA race, in the Pee Wee 50cc
Amateur class. Fipps was very excited after
the race, recounting how much fun he had,
especially on the straightaways - though he
wasn't as fond of the "bumpy' sections. He
certainly appears ready to follow in the foot-
steps of his father. Pro-class racer Jeremy
Fipps, and his mother, a former off-road
racer.
