It was decided that the event would be scored in a one-moto format after lightning was spotted in the area. Ryan Grantom had things covered from the start, taking the holeshot and the early lead aboard his FoxjEBRjTejas Suzuki-sponsored RM80, with Daniel Garrett trailing. Steven Kurth took over second place only a few turns into the race, and Steven Ball followed his example, taking over third. Coming around at the end of the first lap, Grantom was leading over Kirth, with Ball running third. Ricky Davis and his Stubbs CyclejJM Racing RM80 had moved into fourth, but Garrett was pressuring him for the position. ThorjTagsponsored Ryan Reuss was in sixth. Garrett stayed close to Davis, but the Highlands Kawasaki rider didn't make a move until the third lap, taking over fourth and sending Davis back to fifth.
