talkies, "Hey, if it's raining, these must be the Pee Wees!" The youngsters have little experience racing in the rain, and some of the series leaders wound up doing less well than expected on an overall basis on the night, though they still won the championships. Both Chad Morales and Paul Nelson swept all three motos on a pair of Cobras. Cobra tamer Andrew Mulgrew overcame a bad first mota to take second place behind Morales in the final two Pee Wee (7-8) races for the runnerup spot, while eventual Pee Wee (46) series champion Austin Aguilar could only manage third overall with a 5-2-3 score, behind second'-placed Brandon Scharer (2-3-2) and winner Nelson. The highly.anticipated showdown between Tommy Madden and Daniel Arrendondo in the 60cc Beginner class never really took place. The duo came into this evening's battle separated by only three points (the difference between first and second overall on the night), but in each of the first two matos, Arrendondo could not get his Kawasaki running up to speed and could only manage a pair of fifth-place finishes while Madden scored a third and second. Madden trailed Kawasaki jockeys Mitchell Alcorn and Justin Hommel in the first mota, and Hommel in the second. By the time Arrendondo got back on track in the third race, finishing third behind Alcorn, who scored first overall, and Hommel, who scored second overall, Madden's fifth was still good for the championship. Honda pilot Chad Nye gathered up his third f.irst-place trophy in the series when he outdueled Yamahamounted Matt Vanderwater in the aocc Beginner class. Nye placed second, behind Vanderwater, in the first two face-offs, but he handled the slick conditions in the third mota the best with a win, while his foe dropped to third. Nye needed only to score well on this final night to garner the championship. Blake Wade finished the series the way he had begun it - with an overall win (his only two victories in the series, by the way) - and he added to his series points lead when TMC Racing's Justin Mills could only score fourth overall in the dampened conditions. As he had many times in the series, Wade won the first two matos, and this week he added the third to ace out Chaparral Suzuki rider Travis Hawkins all three times. Only two other riders scored enough points to gain series championship honors. (Riders had to race five events of the six-race series.) David Sexson only managed third on the night in topping the 250cc Beginner standings, while Vet Beginner Syd Woods got second overall on the II BIG ITIlES RAtII SEASI 'RESEllS TIlE III SlPEBIIII CIIUEIIlT SEllS PIll lilY .: .1.
