Kelley's Heroics

MARION. OH. FEB. 18
New Philadelphia's rising star Thomas Kelley
dominated the Pro racing during the final
event of the AMS Ohio Arenacross Series in
Marion. Ohio. Finishing off the weekend with
five out of six wins in the Pro classes, Kelley's
heroics gave him an almost perfect weekend
of racing, as he hauled off the majority of the
cash offered up by AMS promoter Tab
Thompson. At this Sunday afternoon event,
Kelley swept the 125cc and 250cc Pro classes
yet again, with feisty F&S Suzuki pilot David
Whitcraft providing him with some opposition.
Eventually, Whitcraft finished second behind
Kelley in both classes. Josh Hamilton, Tony
Robinson and Joey Lewis battled over the last
podium position in both classes; Robinson
took the spot in the 125cc Pro class and
Hamilton placed third in the 250cc Pro contest.
It was a great afternoon for young Laurelville's Derrick Arledge. The F&S Suzukibaked RM 125 racer was a kid with a mission
as he jumped around the technical circuit,
taking both the 125cc B and Schoolboy-class

victories.
Nathan Skaggs once again whipped his
Yamaha VZS in for a couple of victories, simply mastering the 250cc Band 16-24 classes,
while Marion's Rustie Goddard continued his
hot streak at this venue, taking the 250cc Cclass win.
Greg Stricker got a popular win; Stricker,
of Moscow, Ohio's Greg Stricker slammed his
Yamaha YZ80 home first for a popular win,
taking the 80cc (J 2-15) class by storm. However, that was not enough glory for the young
racer, so he later swept his way to the 80cc
(9-13) win as well.
Another youngster on the gas was Nathan
Heskett, who jammed his Yamaha in for the
win in the 80cc (7-11) class and ran a
respectable second behind Tyler "Danger
Boy" Bowers in the 65cc (7-9) contest.
In the Pee Wee classes, big cheese Kody
Kamm came down from Wisconsin to master
the 50cc (4-6) class, while Austin Coon continued his domination of the 50cc Shaft Drive
division. Lancaster's Kyle Cottrill roosted his
King Cobra 50 in for a high-flying victory in
the 50cc (7-8) class, and in the 65cc (10-11)
class, Austin Stout scrubbed his Kawasaki
KX65 to the checkers and the victory.
Canadian Jeff Coles was absolutely the
fastest old man on the track. He not only took
the Over 40 class win, he also won the very
competitive Over 25 plus class. Coles settled
for second, behind the very fast Chuck Nicholson, in the Over 30 class. The speedy Nicholson also earned the Over 25 A class crown.
In Open-bike action. Trackside Graphicsbacked Ross "The Boss" Adams would not
allow Dwight "Torco" Voltz any room on the
twisty circuit as the two battled for the win.
Adams jostled his Ratai Builders-owned
Yamaha home first. while Voltz vaulted his
pristine lOG 10 home in second.
