DTRA Ice Race Williams the Conqueror at Coon Lake Ice Race Los Angeles County Raceway: Alex Arreguin (162) and Casey White (21) were this close for most of the second 125cc Beginner mota In Palmdale, California. Arreguin went 1-1 for the win, White's 3-2 edged out Patrick's 4-2 for the second-place trophy. Brownell (5-5) and Tamera Neitzel (6-6) rounded out the top five. Jason Sibley got around a fast-starting Tim Ritzier to slowly walk away from the field for the 80cc Beginner first-moto win. Andy Delarge pressured Sibley during the middle of the moto but fell off the pace slightly; he still finished in second place. over Ken Slater Jr., Ryan AgiUS and Cameron Reisser. Round two saw RitzIer get another great start and lead Slater for nearly a lap of the J.B. Memorial track. Sibley closed in on Ritzier, only to go down and nearly get picked off by Delarge in fourth. The moto belonged to Slater, as he led every lap to claim the overall on a 3-1 day. Delarge slowly worked his way up into a 2-2 showing to top the 1-3 score of Sibley and the 6-4 score of Ritzier. The first 125cc moto holeshot went to the Vickery/Spy/Cortez Trucking/Sinisalo-backed Jared Carlson. Motoworld's Paul Lindsey settled in second, with Short following in third. By the end of lap three, Short made his way around Lindsey and focused on Carlson. Carlson, Short and Lindsey left the rest of the 125cc class behind. Nearing the halfway point of the moto, Short closed on Carlson and made an inside move on him after the finishline jump. Short quickly pulled away to a comfortable six-second lead. Carlson put on a charge with two laps to go but was unable to reel in Short. Lindsey followed closely behind Short and Carison, but he couid not mount a charge with one iap to go. Carlson was once again the fastest rider off the cement starting line in moto two. A repeat of moto one ensued, as Lindsey and Short were behind him. Carison quickly found himself in third as both Lindsey and Short jumped past him. Lindsey's lead was short-lived, as Short passed him on lap three. Carlson found his way around Lindsey a few laps later, but it was too late to catch Short, who already had an eight-second lead. With two laps remaining, Paradise MotorsportsfThor/B-Line-backed Billy Dotson had closed to within a few seconds of Lindsey, but as the checkered flag flew, Dotson's effort was not enough - Lindsey beat him by two bike lengths. James Reimer, aboard his Sass/EVSjWhite Brothers YZ250F, cruised to an easy fifth-place finish. R.sults P/W VAM BEG: 1. Man Dreke (Hon); 2. Taylor Farner (Yam): 3. Justin Shepard (Hon): 4. Results I The Fabulous Funderburk By ROCKY HASH SAN BERNARDINO, CA, MAR. 10 With Racing Enterprises Motorsports' 15th season of promoting motocross in Southern California (and their fourth straight at Glen Heien) hitting full stride, a large number of riders turned out to get a break from the recent series of rainstorms in the area and enjoyed a perfect day for racing. One of the most interesting contests was the 80cc Beginner class, in which Matt Funderburk earned the overall class victory by winning the all·irnportant second moto. In round one, Matt Mitchell snared the holeshot. Funderburk tucked his CR80 into second, while Erika Contreras gated well and had her 10<80 in third. Funderburk wasted no time and took over the point on lap two. Chris Davis was charging hard after starting midpack, and by halfway he was up to second. Davis followed Funderburk for a couple of laps and then pushed his YZ80 into the lead. Once out front, Davis rode mistake-free to the ~ (Kaw): 3. Hunter Meyer (Yam); 4. MidNlel Ingle (Hoo); 5.
