World Four-Stroke Championships will be returning to a two-day format in 2001 for the first time since 1994. The promoters of the AMA/Yamaha Western Four-Stroke National Motocross Series have purchased airtime for the first round. Former 500cc World Champion Kevin Schwantz competed in the opening round of the AMA Grand National Cross Country Series in Okeechobee, Florida, on Tuesday, finishing in the top four of the Industry class. Riding a Suzuki DR2400, Schwantz finished either third or fourth in the class, though official results haven't been compiled yet. Schwantz's hands were a reminder of the event, as both now feature blisters. "I think it was a spinning grip, - Schwantz said of the cause of the damaged hands.
