RIll. Y coast moved through central Florida in the form of rain. Despite the weather, the traction in the sandbased soil was good, and the organizers had to do very Httle tweaking to keep the sections ridable. Peters started Sunday's event determined to better the previous day's result. That would mean holding his concentration all day, and despite two mental lapses in section nine, the Sherco pilot did just that. Loop scores of 10, 14 and 13 were good enough for the final-day win. Ryan Young ended loop one very much in contention for the win with 11 points, one behind Peters, proving that he can still hang with the best despite being far from his championship form. "In practice on Friday, I was scared to death of what the guys were practicing, but the sections today nothing was dangerous at all and the traction was good," Young stated. "I was just trying to have enough energy to ride good all day." Young rode two more cautious and consistent laps, avoiding any big mistakes until a flat rear tire cost him a five in the next-to-Iast section of the day. A 42-point total put Young in the runner-up position for the day, with Chaves eight points back in third. Despite a scare in section one, Chris Florin put in a solid ride for fourth with 58 total points. The likable Florin failed to make the big splatter at the entrance, but was saved from disaster by a last-minute grab from his minder, Martin Belair of U.S. Montesa. Florin's 58 points landed him in fourth for the day, with Travis Fox again rounding out the top five. CN Fun-n-Sun Trials Webster, Florida Results: March 3-4, 2001 Day 1 CHMP: 1. PelformatlC8 eooo \Norld Superbike Series Revie"\N Official 3-Hour Review of the 2000 FIM World Superbike Series (#1900) The 2000 World Superbike season was one of the most fiercely contested, unpredictable and excfting seasons ever. It all started way back in April in Kyalami, South Africa and wound fts way around the globe for thirteen two-race rounds in search of a Champion for the Millennium. One thing that would be certain is that it would not be a Fifth World ntle for the King of Superbikes, the legendary Carl Fogarty who had a horrific career ending crash in Round 2 at Phillip Island, Australia. It all added up to some of the greatest, most intense Superbike racing of all time. For the filSt time in yealS the Championship was wide open and the top ridelS would battle fOI every inch of the track. Texan Colin Edwards (runner up in '99), wanted to take it to another level wfth his new twin cylinder Honda RC-51. 'The Sideways Samurai' Noriyuki Haga would blow the season apart with some of the most aggressive and inventive riding ever witnessed. Australian Troy Corsel had things to plove, and returned on the steatthy matte-black Aprilia RSV 1000 to shock the biking world wfth its immediately compe@ve edge. And wild card Neil Hodgson saw his chance to carry the British flag, racing fearlessly to throttle the GSE Ducati over the line on home turf at Brands Hatch. This three-hour program is the full and complete account of the season with relentless, aggressive and determined riding from every round of the 2000 World Superbike Championship. 180 minutes from White StarlDuke Video This Tape 534.95 includes shipping.
