Th~ day dawned crisp, with a thin layer of
frost on th~ bik~s. After a riders meeting,
round one of the T~xas Stat~ Championship
Enduro Circuit series started out an hour later
than normal, with key time at g a.m. The
course was perfect. with snow the week before
leaving the ground dust-fr~.
Th~ short course was 45 miles. Two 24mph test sections in the morning were well·
marked and challenging. Several cr~k crossings were deeper than usual and claimed a
few riders. On the short course, the overall
winner was Dusty Tittle in the 200cc C class,
with a score 017.05.
The long course went out for another 40·
mile loop in tight woods lind rocky ravines.
Scott Bright drove down from Colorado and
led the field with a score of 10.06 on his
Enduro Engineering/Maxima/AnswerIEmig
Racing/Elite Motors KTM.
"What a great rid~l" Bright enthused. "All
the moisture in the ground made for perfect
traction. It was a little slippery in the moming,
but it thawed out nicely as the day went on.
The weter crossings in the first loop made it
real interesting. The Texas Enduro Circuit
really kicked off the season right with this
event, and I Clm't say enough about the new
KTMs - they work awesome right out of the
crate!"
