Cheek went down, falling to fifth. Yamaha
rider Keith Cooper came from back in the
pack to surprise Rausch and pass him on the
last lap. Rausch hung on to second, followed
by Joel Gallagher on his new Suzuki.
David Casada dominated the Over 25
Expert class. Casada's Yamaha shot off the
start in mota one, with the YZ426F of Steve
Dennis on his back fender. Dennis made every
effort to get around Casada, to no avail. Monte
Frank made a charge on his Yamaha and
managed to catch and pass Dennis, but he
couldn't get by Casada.
In moto two, Casada got off the gate first
again, only this time he had Franks breathing
stayed solid in second. The man on the move
was 250cc Intermediate Damon Wasden, who
passed all the way up to third by race's end.
The Utah hotshoe laid another lick on the
boys to start the second half, leading Bill Earle
and Wasden around the first tum. Wasden and
Clegg made an early charge at the leader, but
no one was catching Justin on this day. Justin
went on to smoke the field and take the overall 250cc Intermediate crown. Wasden roared
in to take second overall. Clegg flashed across
next to lead the 125cc Novices.
