A TT Terminator Dash pitting the top five finishers from each of the two heats ran prior to intermission. The Terminator format provides a crowdpleasing series of one-lap sprints (eliminating the last two finishers each round) until two bikes remain for a final dash. The riders lined up 10 abreast on the dirt for the first elimination round, after which an inverted single-file start was used for added excitement value. In spite of the handicap starts, it was Stanley all the way, as the resident of Bellingham, Washington, came from the rear each time, putting on a good show for the crowd. The final dash pitted Stanley against his housemate Joe Russell, fueling rumors that a month's rent was at stake. Russell's advancement into the last elimination round was notable since he was a stand-in for Canet, who was busy tending to organizational duties. Russell could be saddled with dishwashing detail, as Stanley showed his friend no mercy. A consummate showman, Stanley ended his victory lap with a lengthy full-lock power slide and eloquent high-side crash that whipped the crowd into frenzy. A 20-rider field lined up for the 12lap SuperTT main. Stanley pulled a big wheel stand on the start, getting beat into the first turn by Hallworth and Harrison. A high outside line through the left-hand dirt turn moved Stanley into second, and he passed into the lead late in the opening lap. Harrison kept his A TK 605 in second place until Frankhouser slipped past on lap seven, with Annen moving up into third two laps later. Annen earned the hard-charger-of-the-race handshake for having methodically worked his way through from an eighth-place start. The top three spots remained the same to the finish, with Harrison and Edwards rounding out the top five. The win marked BBRP/Steve Baker Kawasaki/Joe Russell-sponsored Dan Stanley's fifth SuperTT main-event win in seven starts. "I really enjoy this form of racing and hope an opportunity to compete in a European Supermotard race comes of it," said the multitalented rider, who is interested in having a go at road racing as well. eN Be PllH:e Vencouver, British Columbill, Conede Results: Februery 3, 2001 HEAT A: 1.
