(Left) Pedro Gonzales ...n up fI'ont all weekend, even taking a win in Friday's 250cc main, to move himself up wtthln striking distance of Gibson and maybe even WI loh in the points chase. (Right) Jeff Wliloh (3) rode flawlessly In Saturday's 125cc main to take his slxttI win of the . .rI_ and put some more points between himself and Jeff Gibson, who's ",nnlng third In points. FRIDAY WHloh grabbed the 125cc main event start with Carrollton Kawasaki's Darcy Lange, Antunez, St. Louis Powersports/MotoXdream.com's Denny Stephenson and BBR/Lynwood Yamaha's Brad Hagseth in pursuit. As Willoh led for the first several laps, Antunez and Hagseth moved into second and third, respectively. Gibson, who started in ninth, crashed out of the race on the seventh of the 16-lap race, and went back to the pits. Several laps later, Antunez blazed by Willoh as he set up the Honda rider several turns earlier, executing the pass for the historic win. Willoh would cross the finish line later for second, and Demuth came from a sixth-place start to round out the podium in third. Gonzales, Thor/Honda/Tuf Racing's Chad Johnson and Holland made up the top six. "I made a mistake when Buddy got by me, but made up a lot of points on Gibson," Willoh said after the race. Antunez was awarded a plaque and a commemorative t-shirt and made a quick speech for the crowd about his career. "It been a great series this year and all the others, too,' Antunez said. "I'm glad I could share it with this big Milwaukee crowd. Thanks for cheering us on." Gonzales nailed the 250cc start with Willoh, Antunez and G.P. Motorsports/SoCal's Brandon Bartz in tow. Demuth and Gibson were way back with poor starts. Gonzales got into his own fast pace early on and slowly pulled away from the field. Willoh and Antunez went at it for some time until Willoh crashed in the whoops, slowing Antunez in the process. Demuth was on a charge after his bad start and, in the closing laps, he moved in on and looked to have Antunez in his sights. Gonzales had nearly an eight-second lead on Antunez in the final laps, and Demuth was giving Antunez his share of troubles, too. Gonzales would eventually cross the finish line for his second win of the year, and Antunez barely held off Demuth for second. Gibson moved up well also to finish fourth, while Chad Johnson, Lange and Stephenson made up the top seven. SATURDAY Saturday evening's races got off to a good start for Holland who led from start to finish in the Dash for Cash. Demuth finished out the race in second place, followed by Friday night's Dash for Cash winner, Gonzales. When the 125s came to the line for their main event, all eyes were focused on Antunez • perhaps number 101 was just 16 laps away. But it was Willoh who stole the show. The Honda rider nabbed his second holeshot of the weekend and rode a smooth race for the win. Demuth, however, kept Willoh honest through out the final. The Kawasaki rider was always close enough to pounce if Willoh made a 250 PRO (20 laps): 1. Pedro Gonzales (Kllw); 2. Buddy Antunez (Suz); 3. Josh Demuth (Kaw); 4.Jeff Gibson (Su,); 5. Third place went to Gonzales, who had Antunez breathing down his neck when they took the checkered flag. Sneaking into the top five at the finish was DFC winner Holland. Holland, however, wasn't happy about getting fifth and wanted to make up for it in the 250cc main. He took his aggressions out on his bike's clutch and beat everyone to the front of the pack at the start of the 250cc final. Right behind him, however, was a hungry Gonzales, who had been riding consistently all weekend. Back in the pack after getting caught off guard on the start was Antunez. Holland was obviously determined to finish out the weekend on a winning note, as he rode his Honda with precision and got his wish - a win, his second of the year. Gonzales showed that he's again for real by posting a strong secondplace finish. Antunez kept the crowd entertained as he worked his way up through the pack, and he was rewarded with a podium finish in third. Fourth went to Antunez's teammate Jeff Gibson, while Denny Stephenson stole fifth place from Willow on the last lap. ICIIII 65cc: 1. Gatlin Norgren (Kaw); 2. Cameron Lansing (Kaw); 3.
