CMC Golden State Nationals, Pacific Northwest Region Round 1: Forster Livestock Pavilion Moto two was a different story. Action Motorsports/No Fear/Scott/ LSR/Washougal MX Park-supported Huffman took the lead from McAlister coming out of the chute and remained there to the finish. Graves, McAlister and Californian Scott Davis waged a close battle over second, which ultimately went to Graves. McAlister, Davis, Hamness and Leach, who gated poorly, filled out the top six at moto's end. Overall, Huffman (2-1) topped Graves (3-2), McAlister (4-3). Leach (1-6) and Hamness (6-5). Honda-mounted Kadell had an illustrious Amateur career and was long overdue to move up to the big leagues. The 16-yea r-old hung with the heavy hitters and placed third in moto one, behind Storm and Graves but ahead of Davis. Kadell wasted little time jumping out in front of Graves, Storm, Davis and McAlister in moto two and held off all challenges to earn his STORV AND PHOTOS BV CLAV LIGHT SALEM, OR, JAN. 14 yan Huffman has had his share of ups and downs the past several years, but he started off the new millennium with a 250cc Pro-class win at the opening round of the CMC Golden State National Series, Pacific Northwest Region. The former Suzuki, Honda and Kawasaki support rider, now riding a privateer Yamaha, used a 2-1 tally for his win at the Forster Livestock Pavilion. Huffman trailed fellow YZ rider Ryan Leach to the finish in the first 250cc moto, but the Roseburg, Oregon, rider nabbed the lead early in moto two to polish off the overall in his Yamaha debut. Yamaha-mounted Tony Graves (3-2) and Chaun McAlister (4-3) rounded out the podium. The weekend's shocker came in the 125cc Pro class. Keith KadeU, who was making his Pro-class debut, trailed a duo of seasoned veterans - Mike Storm and Graves - in moto one and then took the lead in moto two and remained there to start off his Pro career with a 3-1 tally, breaking a tie with Graves (2-2) and Storm (1-3). Despite a pair of runner-up finishes in the 125 and 250cc Pro classes, Herb's Cycletown/LRD/Sinisalobacked Graves was the day's top performer. Contesting four classes, Graves also won the Open and Vet Over 25 Pro classes. Idaho's McAlister placed in the top five in three classes and won the Over 30 Pro class and took home a bundle of cash and contingencies. Graves and McAlister went head to head in the first moto of the day, the Vet Over 25 Pro class, but that battle became a fight over second place when Huffman overtook both riders for the lead and kept them at bay. Suzuki-mounted Terry Hamness got the holeshot in moto two and held the point position for several laps until Graves overtook Hamness to garner the victory as well as the overall win with a 2-1 tally. Hamness (4-2), McAlister (3-3), Jason Matthews (54) and Huffman (1-8) rounded out the top five overall. A full gate of 250cc Pro riders lined up to do battle. Local arenacross phenom Ryan Leach nabbed the holeshot, ahead of Matthews, Huffman, McAlister and rookie Pro Devin Connaghan. Huffman quickly pounced upon Matthews and moved into striking range of Leach, but Leach answered all of Huffman's challenges, posting a narrow victory ahead of Huffman, Graves, McAlister, Matthews and Hamness.
