2001 Perris Invitational Supercross

t was quite obvious that winning
races was Team Yamaha's David
Vuillemin's resolution for the New
Year after he took control of the ultra
competitive 125cc Pro division at the
2001 Perris Invitational Supercross at
Perris Raceway.
Many factory teams showed up
this year in an attempt shake out
their new race equipment a week
before the opening round of the
AMAlEA Sports Supercross Series.
One of those teams that showed up in
full force was KTM, with a near army
of technical, suspension, engine and
management personal in support of
what promises to be a very strong
2001 125cc Pro race team.
Much attention at Perris was
focused on some new blood from the

South African Grant Langston, who is
the 125cc World Champion.
Langston did not disappoint and
came out in the first 125cc heat race,
gunning .down the competition by
winning with eight seconds to
spare over David Vuillemin.
Vuillemin took second com·
fortably ahead of Greg
Schnell and the rest of the
field.
"He [Langston] is in
very
good
shape,"
Vuillemin said. "Langston
comes from the World Grand Prix
Series where they race a lot of sand
